Scrolls Lace pattern from More Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. Knit with Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn single-ply wool on number 1 double points.
The Noro colors were lovely. I wanted fraternal socks, so knit one from the outside of the skein and the other from the inside. The yarn is crunchy and the “thin-thick-lumpy” ply OK. Not too problematic, but tricky with the yarn-overs.
This is not a Beheading . The neck of this double bass reminds me of the prow on a gondola ... that graceful scroll .
Venice .
Every once in a while you find beauty and art in an every day object like an old sewing machine. Here's a great example, a Singer Featherweight sewing machine from the mid-1930's. Not only had Singer perfected it's precision mechanism, but they took it a step further and made it pretty to look at.
