After a relaxing breakfast, we went on a walking tour of Charleston, with Michael Trouche of Charleston Footprints. Michael is a 7th-generation Charleston native. He had such interesting stories and perspectives of Charleston, its history and its buildings. If you decide to visit Charleston, make sure you include this walking tour in your itinerary!

If the uniqueness of Tibet came with the Tibetian devotion to their religious, the rotator should be the best representation of this enthusiasm.

You will never forget this bronze made rotator with the six words on it once you have seen it. The rotator is filled with buddism scrolls.

It is believed that if you rotate it, it is equal to spelling the scroll itself.

Such a easier way to devote to their believes!

Epiphone Scroll, late 70's

Scroll blank inspired by a 15th century book of hours: I am unable to find the original online source. Similar to www.flickr.com/photos/calebreynolds/15792754769/in/datepo... only with darker colors.

Self-color floral pattern in glossy finish is printed over every item and makes up for the base design of this product. A see thru cut-out on front of card covered with clear plastic, makes room for name of bride and groom or Event name. Round wooden bars are used to give an ethnic look. Scroll is also printed with same pattern but in color matching to box with space for text on one side.

This cadell can be found in:

digitalassets.lib.berkeley.edu/ds/ucb/images/DS002810aB.jpg

It's from a German calligraphic manual, dated from ca. 1570's.

Granted, while the cadell is 1570's. the script is my own version of English secretary (fraktur would have been more appropriate, however, I had less than 3 weeks to complete the assignment, wanted something word-intensive, and was also fighting bronchitis - so I went with what I knew would look 'close enough' and worked quickly). Overall, the scroll is a mishmosh of things that would not have all been found on the same page in history, all from different sources - but the same time period range, and almost entirely same culture. I don't recommend doing this for everyone, but I felt in this particular case it might work.

The approximate height of the B is somewhere around 4-5". Again, some issues with the loops, due to coughing fits, and also partly due to not being used to working large.

Ink used is a brown pigmented ink made by Winsor and Newton, as I knew I wouldn't have enough walnut ink, what I would usually use for something in this style.

This still remains one of my favorite scrolls, though, goofs and all. :)

Great for everyday wear, these pretty little earrings are composed of round swarovski crystal beads, and antique silver pewter hearts. All other findings are sterling silver.

I like this new clasp I made which was secured by soldering. I think it's a keeper!
