Ades Zabel & Company - TATORT Neukölln - A Neuköllnical, Berlin 2021

With Ades Zabel, Biggy van Blond, Bob Schneider & Roman Shamov

Futschiqueen and "HARTZ VIII icon" Edith Schröder are at a loss, because their house in the gentrification hotspot Neukölln has been sold and their rent increased to such an extent that they are threatened with homelessness. They borrow money... But if you borrow money from the wrong people, you'll soon be in even bigger trouble.

Edith's buddy and backyard charmer Harry Weinfurz proposes a big coup to her and her two best friends in order to pay back the money. This plan can only go wrong. But in the age of social media and fake news, the criminal unexpectedly becomes a popular heroine, and so the question for Edith soon becomes: jail or chancellorship?

Tatort Neukölln - a turbulent Neuköllnical about capitalist, criminal and verbal border crossings and the mechanisms of populism.

Self-color floral pattern in glossy finish is printed over every item and makes up for the base design of this product. A see thru cut-out on front of card covered with clear plastic, makes room for name of bride and groom or Event name. Round wooden bars are used to give an ethnic look. Scroll is also printed with same pattern but in color matching to box with space for text on one side.

The Halesowen Abbey Scroll, a manuscript of Magna Carta with illuminated capitals on three membranes of joined parchment. It is believed to have been produced by the monks of Halesowen Abbey, Halesowen, Shropshire (now West Midlands), England, after 1225. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538, the Abbey's property was acquired by the Lyttelton family. The scroll eventually came into the possession of Charles Lyttelton (1714–1768), who served as President of the Society of Antiquaries of London from 1765 till his death. He left the scroll to the Society in his will. The manuscript was on display in an exhibition at the Society entitled Magna Carta through the Ages, commemorating the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta. Nuff said! Love it! More dramatic than most, but still has that naive quality. Note the continuation of the incised decoration, creating a delicate lively tension between curve and angle.

There's something organic and sensual about the movement from the liturgical space to the real world that I'm sure must have been intended, or at least acknowledged, by the people who built and worshipped in these places before protestantism came along and turned us all into bible ponderers...

Aakhyan is an effort to celebrate the spirit and soul of the narrative traditions through puppets, Masks and picture showmen traditions of India.

India is indeed blessed to have with its traditions such different techniques of puppetry (glove, string, rod, shadow), masks (both ritualistic and theatrical) and varied traditions of scrolls (paper, cloth, wood, leaves, barks etc)

Taken in Portsmouth Ohio. Some HDR processing. The colors are close to true. The image was created form 3 RAW files at -2, 0, +2. I loved the symmetry of the photo as well as the contrast of the rich ornate security door between grand limestone columns and a cinder block building?

Today the Jodo Mission of Hawaii saw the return of its hand-painted Japanese hanging scroll. At least 60 years old and the second largest such artifact in Hawaii, it was fully restored by skilled Japanese artisans under the direction of Japan Memorial Corporation's Tatsuji Maeda, who presented the restoration work to the Jodo Mission board this morning. This prized artwork will be carefully stored and only displayed in the temple maybe twice a year. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about these scrolls, it was certainly an education for us (and a substantial investment).
