yes, your flickr friend has flipped. was volunteering in the art room last week and the art teacher had put these aside to show me how the expensive scissors had not stood up to the wear ~sigh~. got thinking about alternate arrangements for a picture and this is what i came up with-- pig pile and at parade rest.

Buttonhole scissors, used to cut a slot in fabric before stitching the buttonhole by hand. These belonged to my grandmother. Also pinking shears, used to create a zigzag edge on fabric so it frayed less. These belonged to my mum. Both tools have been replaced by the huge variety of stitches created easily on a modern sewing machine.
They are sharp .. need to be careful!

At first I got no clou what I had to build for our 'awesome' catogory.
But after a time I got some ideas: and I really love the way the whole MOC came out. Not only because this almost was exactly how I pictured it and how I wanted it but also because I learned a lot from my building.
first I started with creating large things out of LEGO: giant keys and locks and others things (dont know the english word for those). But after a while I made a pair of scissors and I thought: "this is it!.
I made some others thing around it (kept these out eventually), and created the suroundings and background. At last I used the only daylight left to take these pictures.

The colors were picked out by the art director and the printer. This is being gang-printed with a few other months by different artists using the same color scheme.

Exposing children to different endeavors helps them make life choices. This young lady may or may not work in medicine, but she at least has had some exposure to it.
Well, I walked around looking for someone sitting on a rock with a newspaper cutting out articles but alas couldn't find anyone doing this! So came home and decided to just play it safe to ensure nobody got hurt!
