I chose to display various sewing things as a still life. The large scissors & pinking shears belonged to my mum. I added small items including button thread & metal press studs. My mum didn’t enjoy sewing, but did any necessary sewing tasks & had the patience to teach me some sewing skills. She even taught me to use her (manual) sewing machine when I was very young. I always enjoyed sewing thanks to her encouragement, so it’s lovely that I still have these items.

🇹🇷 Stepping into a slice of everyday life in Eskişehir. This traditional “ERKEK KUAFÖR” (men’s barbershop) captures the essence of Turkish culture where haircuts are more than just a service - they’re social rituals. The careful attention of the barber to his elderly client reflects the deep respect for elders that permeates Turkish society. These small shops are living museums of tradition in a rapidly changing world. ✂️👴💈

Cette petite paire de ciseaux m'est bien utile pour faire du découpage de papier. Elle sert aussi de modèle lorsque l'occasion se présente, comme pour répondre au thème Pair de MacroMondays du 12/04/21. #Macro #MacroMondays #Pair
Underexposed this one running sunny sixteen, definitely gloomy and had opened up but not enough still, I like to think it adds character.

I admit, I have a lot of scissors. This isn't even all of them. Some I keep at work, some at home. They've all got specific jobs to do, and I rely on them every day.
Lighting: An SB-800 camera left, and an SB-600 camera right. Both are pointed at a silver/gold reflector positioned above and behind the mirrored surface.

In the absence of anything better I entered this in the DPI section of the 'Still Life' competition at HPS. Unsurprisingly it was unplaced, although it might have fared better had the judge understood what 'rock, paper, scissors' is!
This is a pair of appliques scissors. I havew a photo opf how I used them but just found out today that I have been using them the wrong way ever since I had them!
They should be used with the duck-billed blade under the fabric that is being trimmed away (to prevent accidental cutting of under fabric). However, my way seemed to work for me! Not posting my demo photo because I don't want to give misinformation, LOL!
Taken with 40 MM lens.
Das Original-Bild hat mir nicht so gefallen, da habe ich ein bisschen mit Helligkeit/Kontrast rumgespielt... (I didnt' like the original shot, so I played a little with photoshop and changed brightness and contrast)
