Our Daily Challenge ... scissors

My interpretation of the theme "rock".

This is a pair of scissors. Photographed using natural sunlight. The photo was taken for the macromondays theme "Back to School".

While I was using the scissors to cut Mrs Mail out of the shot with rock star Suzi Quatro, I ended up with a pratial eclipse of the sun, leading to divorce papers if I get found out.

Rock-paper-scissors is a hand game played by two or more people.

The game is often used as a selection method in a way similar to coin flipping, drawing straws, or throwing dice.

According to the Chinese Ming Dynasty writer Xie Zhaozhe's (谢肇淛) book Wuzazu (五杂组), the first known mention of the game, the game dates back to the time of the Chinese Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE)

Trust me, I'll cook

Last shot before I disappear off into the wilderness for a couple days for an extended bachelors party! Hope you guys enjoy it. More to come soon...

Continuation of a series of shots involving Joanie as Ms. Scissorhands! My attempt at blending fashion and fantasy. I absolutely love it when the entire team pitches in to make such a shoot happen. Joanie took the time to plan out and rent the costumes and Lilly grabbed the claws while Kim brought in packs and packs of hair. Commited people are the best to work with, they literally guarantee fantastic results.

Shot in a paper factory that burnt down June 8th (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qaJUI6kEos) . We got kicked out twice by two seperate property owners but finally managed to compromise with my winning smile (and some help from the ladies).

I had a BTS photojournalist by the name of Monique Guilbault that came on set to shoot the entire thing and soon will have the article ready on DIY Photography in the near future for those interested in knowing step by step how a shoot like this happens :)

Entry #66 for 114 pictures in 2014

trying to get a shot for Macro Monday theme, Handle with Care. Inspired by mum's sewing scissors. the reflection of the tapestry on the kitchen wall is a bonus!

This species is the loud one you hear at dusk that goes on and on and on. Which is where they get their name, sound like a scissor blade sharpener. This one was on my flowerpot.

The earliest known scissors appeared in Mesopotamia 3,000 to 4,000 years ago.

These were of the 'spring scissor' type comprising two bronze blades connected at the handles by a thin, flexible strip of curved bronze which served to hold the blades in alignment, to allow them to be squeezed together, and to pull them apart when released.

Spring scissors continued to be used in Europe until the 16th century.

However, pivoted scissors of bronze or iron, in which the blades were pivoted at a point between the tips and the handles, the direct ancestor of modern scissors, were invented by the Romans around 100 AD.

They entered common use in not only ancient Rome, but also China, Japan, and Korea, and the idea is still used in almost all modern scissors.

Enjoying the user experience of this lens with the T/S functionality. Still getting used to it and loving the results. One thing to remind myself is not to go crazy on the T/S functionality, it can be overdone. Using this lens at 0/0 setting provides very good imagery, sharp! The 45mm focal length offers a great perspective.

I love the way that macro can make you look more closely at the everyday and ordinary! Here it's a humble pair of scissors I've had for years!

Shot with the Sony NEX-6 using the E30mm F3.5 macro lens

Austin, TX. Neon scissors with a leggy glow.

It's been ages since I made hoodies, they're a bit time consuming.

They'll get stockings and socks.

Our Daily Challenge: SCISSORS

“Scissors! Scissors! Have ye got yer ane scissors?? Are ye deaf??”

― Neil Gaiman (Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch)

Scissors on my dining room table in the late afternoon.

This is what can happen if you accidentally leave a pair of brass colored scissors face down on a wet spot on a leather colored place mat. My wife pointed it out to me, and I thought it was worthy of exploitation.

Lighting stuff: Placed on a white poster board against a wall and lit with a pair of Yongnuo strobes in identical 24 inch soft boxes placed on either side of the mat, pointing at the center at a 45 degree angle. I was going for flat, balanced lighting on this one. The strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

LIt by the setting sun, this is my entry for today's topic in Our Daily Challenge Group: Rock Paper Scissors.

Thought I would do a "pretty" take on the topic.
