Apart from the usual private hire and promotional use, GM's three open-toppers occasionally appeared on regular service as well - if the weather was nice, if a changeover was needed and nothing else was available, or sometimes even at the whim of drivers or depot staff.

This week's slide is from our family holiday to Paris in 1972, the first time I'd been abroad. It felt a real adventure - we went by hovercraft from Dover and then a train (which I was sick on!) to the great city. This photo is from the only time I've ever been to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Although I loved wearing my bright red shorts, this pink dress was a close second favourite item of clothing!! Although I loved that holiday and often found myself centre of attention with my blonde hair, I was nervous, as I remember I had to return to school a week late in September and I wasn't amused!!
The quality of this photo isn't that good, sadly, and there wasn't much I could do to improve it, apart from getting a long dark mark off my face!

Here is the result from a home made 40W lightbulb-tupperware lid-macro lens scanner (which I actually like better) : )
There's nothing like pushing your luck, taken with a long lens in murky conditions on 400 ASA film stock in a 35mm camera 37109 heads away from the Alumina import terminal at North Blyth with the afternoon trip to the Alcan smelter at Lynemouth, an operation that seemed like it would last for ever at the time. Taken in 2004, I have no other information as the accompanying notes for this roll were lost, taken iirc with a 300 or 400mm lens.
Scan from a 35mm colour negative on Fuji 400 ASA stock.
Last week I uploaded a picture of me taken in 1967/8 on a motorbike at the local funfair - this week I'm driving a car!! Southsea Funfair on Clarence Pier is a permanent fair that had lots of great rides and arcades, with slot machines, roundabouts, ghost train and big wheel, etc.
