In years gone by, Llyn Idwal in Snowdonia used to freeze regularly to a depth where it was safe enough to walk across. Don't think I'd risk it now.

Certi siri viu navi
scinniri di li muntagni,
un carusu li cunnuci
finu a lu virdi chianu,
havi passu di farfalla
e occhi virdi.
Cerca puzzi d'acqua frisca,
hiumi di terra e di ferru,
mura di paisi luntani
timpistati d'aria e sterru,
stiddi chi trazzeri novi
vannu circannu.
Certi siri viu navi
acchianari letti asciutti,
hannu la panza vagnata
veli aperti ni la notti.
Lu timuni è spina di
hiuri di rosa.
"Certe sere vedo navi
Scendere dalle montagne
Un bambino le conduce
Fino al verde piano,
ha il passo di farfalla
e occhi verdi.
Cercano pozzi d'acqua fresca
Fiumi di terra e di ferro
Mura di paesi lontani
Flagellae dall'aria e dalla polvere,
stelle che nuovi sentieri
vanno cercando.
Certe sere vedo navi
Dall'umida chiglia
Risalire le secche dei fiumi
A vele spiegate nella notte.
Il timone è spina di fiore di rosa."

Another scan of a print from Grindelwald. It was hard to get the balance right, lots of darks and whites. Still, I love the view.

I caught sight of this move while driving, even though it was a high speed working I managed to catch up with it as it approached Byker on the east side of Newcastle. 03063 with a stock move to Heaton on 20th April 1984. It was always good to catch a loaded move with an 03 away from the confines of Central Station.
Scan from a 35mm transparency.

Four more slide scans from the previous century. These are straight out of the scanner. It is obvious that my subject matter did not change that much over the decades.
