The fire House wasn't a total loss. The demolition crew saved the 'bell tower' from the 'Old Firehouse'. It was placed outside the Hanford Carnegie Museum. There are plans to place a replica of the bell that once hung there, and which now resides at the more modern fire station on Grangeville Blvd.
We have 3 Tesco stores in Bexhill … aren't we lucky!! There is this big 24 hour one on the outskirts of town and 2 much smaller ones.
I'm not the biggest fan of Tesco and really don't like this big store. However, I am very impressed with our little local Tesco in Little Common, which I think is more like a Waitrose than a Tesco.

Sienna Skies, Saving Grace and Addison play on Saturday night at Parachute Festival, 2010. I took my LX3 into the pit. One of the best shows I've been to in a while. My camera took a few blows and sweaty arms to the lens. I took a few kicks to the ribs....but I think it was worth it eh :-) ?
.... one donation at a time.
150/365 - My gratitude journal: I am grateful for those who donate blood, I have never needed it, but my family has.
A perk for donating blood on company time ~ they give you 4 hours off PAID! I would donate regardless. This was my 19th time.

After the dogs got to "Chub Chub" I decided to remake him for Will. So far I got most of the pieces sepertated. We just need to find the new fabric for him.
For African-American women in Delaware, who have the third-highest rate of new HIV infections behind African-American males and white males, First Lady Carla Markell told the 10th anniversary Saving Our Sisters HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Conference in Wilmington that “we can break cycles. We have to break cycles.” The first lady said it’s about “our self-esteem and healthy choices.” DHSS Secretary Rita Landgraf said Delaware has the 11th-highest HIV incidence rate in the nation. “While 21% of Delaware’s total population is African-American, this racial group accounts for 66% of all HIV/AIDS cases ever diagnosed in the state. … That is a heavy burden to bear,” she said. While African-American women in Delaware face fewer HIV infections and fewer deaths, Secretary Landgraf said, a disparity in the rates among women still exists. “In 2013, African-American females accounted for 80% of all new HIV infections among females in our state. That’s 4 out of 5 – far too many of our sisters.” Trends suggest the exposure is mostly through heterosexual sex. HIV testing in Delaware is free at 48 sites across the state.
Saving Our Sisters, whose sponsors include DHSS’ Division of Public Health, is coordinated and organized by Beautiful Gate Outreach Center in Wilmington. It now seems once a year the slopes around Cape Town catch fire. It does destroy a lot of wildlife habitat. Olympus OM3ti - 100mm f2.8

This is a technique Russ developed after watching me just reach down and grab the jaws.....not always a risk-less move. We now use wire-ties ..... 48 inch long .... and although they can slip off easily it as least slows the jaws down. Again....as they say on TV.....PLEASE Don't try this at home, we are experts.
By far the NICEST and COOLEST guy!! He went light on the 'Sleeper Hold", saving the real stranglehold for Daryl!

Note: The historic Life Saving Station was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. These photos are of all that remains.
What is now the Takanassee Beach Club was originally known as U.S. Life-Saving Station #5. It is a rare survivor from the era of frequent shipwrecks, when sand bars, shallow waters, and winter storms made the waters of New Jersey treacherous to the busy coastwise trade. In 1900 New Jersey contained 42 life saving stations situated three and a half miles apart between Sandy Hook and Cape May. From September to May their crews patrolled the beaches nightly looking for ships at peril. From this root the United States Coast Guard grew, but today only a few of the stations survive.
This property still has its three original buildings, and each, only moderately altered, is an architectural gem. The oldest, a handsome stick style building with prominent decorative trusses in each gable, was built in 1878-79 after a model designed for the 1876 Philadelphia centennial exhibition. The second building is shingle style, designed cica 1897 as living quarters for the life-saving crew. The third building from 1903 lies closest to the beach. It is a one-story, shingled boathouse with a tall square lookout tower facing the ocean. All three of the buildings are the only ones in New Jersey. No other location in the United States retains as many original Life-Saving Service buildings.
Deactivated by the Coast Guard in 1928, it subsequently became the Takanassee Beach Club. Today the former U.S. Life-Saving Station #5, is in need of rescue itself. What no northeaster or hurricane accomplished in 135 years, a developer’s bulldozer could soon achieve. The site is under threat of demolition for a proposed townhouse development, although the project is currently on hold pending environmental review. The prospective builder has only offered to move the buildings.
The buildings of Life-Saving Station #5 are irreplaceable survivors of an earlier at the shore. PNJ thinks preserving them at their original sites through some form of adaptive use should be the highest priority, to avoid losing these unique reminders of our maritime heritage.
Assemblyman Sean Kean organized a forum to discuss the future of the Beach Club property. Those interested in the preservation of the property are working with the Assemblyman to try and secure funds from various resources such as the Green Acres to be able to purchase the property.
