I made this sampler by myself. The alphabet came from a book a I had a few years back, so did the butterflies. The edging is mine and so is the sentiments I embroidered on it.

This is one of the projects I made in my weaving class. I fell in love with the floor loom and the process of weaving. A seed was planted. This is a twill sampler, far from perfect but really fun to make.

Made mostly from 10 inch block patterns used for the Bock Lotto 2005-2006. Blogged here.

I made this ribbon embroidery wedding sampler for my son and daughter-in-law. It was the first time I'd ever done ribbon embroidery. From the date on it, you can see that it is 10 years old.

Here everybody says "Sampler" and everybody understands. But at the other university of Graz you get corrected. You have to say "Kolbenhubpipette". If you are the first time in the other university you don't have a clue what they are talking about.

Stitched on 22ct. aida, the edges are fringed to make a frame. The picture is open (not framed), with a felt backing and starched to help with rigidity. Finished size is 6" wide by 4 3/8" tall.

I simplified the middle by cutting it into a single strip instead of three squares. Honestly, though, I'm not really happy with this one. The colors don't pop at all for me, and I'd really like some more 'oomph'. I'll probably end up re-piecing this one.

I stitched this sampler for my brother and sister in law for their anniversary and then did just the bottom part of it again for a gift for my parents. Hardanger isn't hard to do, but is more advanced that cross stitch. The basis of Hardanger lies in creating blocks of satin stitched areas. The fabric within the blocks can then be cut - yes, cut - and filled in with specialty stitching or just left open. This method of stitching comes from Norway. It looks a lot like lace and is achieved by using satin stitch to form blocks or squares.

I loved a picture of samples of knitting patterns in the Rae Compton’s Complete Book of Traditional Knitting. So I used up some mohair and a few scraps of other soft wool and made this hairy jumper.

A knitting sampler, knitted last night and about to be frogged. I used the yarn that I got from the Biggan Dups class on Continental Knitting at the iKnit Weekender. It is DK weight 100% Australian Merino Wool and a delight to knit with. All of this stitch patterns were worked from "400 Knitting Stitches: Great Stitch Patterns" (Murdoch Books) - except the "heel stitch" which I found on www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/525 - and the stitch names and page numbers can be seen in the 'notes' as you hover over the photos on their flickr page.
