This was in the Sampler Village box for December. It's a great way to see a variety of items from Etsy shops. Many of the items I would use.
For those I wouldn't use, I can pass them on as little gifts for the holidays and/or tuck them in with orders from my own shop (I like to include a little gift with orders, and cross-promote other Etsy shops).
I really enjoyed doing this; was easier than the bear stocking and so much easier than my very first sampler which I did whilst I had morning sickness for what seemed like forever ( twins). Love the shades of the cotton.
This was my first cake (aka a sampler cake) for our Wilton Fondant and Gumpaste class. 6" double layer white cake covered in homemade kahlua buttercream icing, then white homemade kahlua marshamallow fondant. The daises are a mixture of fondant and gum paste with the centers tinted yellow then rolled in cake sparkles. Remaining fondant tinted blue then cut to do ribbon, drape, and handkerchiefs. Ribbon cutter and punch set used for embellishments. Lustre dust painted on after assembly.
My first work at sewing class at school.
It folds in half, there is a cloth leaflet inside, to pin one's needles.
Then we made a bag for knitting items storage, then an apron, all things useful in household. Our sewing teacher was an old calvinist lady, she thought a sin to craft for art or pleasure.
Although she wasn't completely wrong : the above is still in use, four decades later.

A knitting sampler, knitted last night and about to be frogged. I used the yarn that I got from the Biggan Dups class on Continental Knitting at the iKnit Weekender. It is DK weight 100% Australian Merino Wool and a delight to knit with. All of this stitch patterns were worked from "400 Knitting Stitches: Great Stitch Patterns" (Murdoch Books) - except the "heel stitch" which I found on www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/525 - and the stitch names and page numbers can be seen in the 'notes' as you hover over the photos on their flickr page.

I just started adding squares (thinking it would just be a part of this) but before I knew it, I was layering them and trying some tride and true patterns.
Kathreen over at Whip Up just wrote up her September Sampler -- there's a bit of a delay as she is all the way around the world from us!
In her post, Kathreen mentioned some of her very favorites from the September Sampler, including Eclectic Elements, Alison Briggs, lizard press, Retro Recess, Manic Trout, DivaDea, Mary Jane's Attic, Jackson Sage and Re-Conceived!
Hip To Be Square/FMQ Sampler Finally Completed! Blogged at colormequilty.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-finished-and-it-fe...
Finally getting tired of working with scraps, I decided I wanted to start a sampler. I looked through the books I own, and then decided, why follow someone else's pattern? I'll just do my own! I have enough reference books.
This block is taken from The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns by Jinny Beyer.
