I went to visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for the first time on February 16, 2019. In 2003, same-sex marriages became legal... and this exhibit was one I found rather touching.
This is a Wedding Same Day Edit (SDE) created forKayla & Albie, whose Ceremony and Reception was held at Windows on the Water (ift.tt/1ckSXs0) in Sea Bright, NJ. In the midst of all my crazy recent pathology challenge, I've been readying my students' work for display at our local library (pics of that facility will follow shortly--it's gorgeous!). I had mucho help from several coworkers and mucho mucho help from one in particular (Thanks Msss Smiff!). We got the display installed today and it will be up all month...there will be an artist reception on January 25th.
we rode in a two horse open sleigh....this was a one horse we saw in the same meadow....just a gorgeous sunday and the views were unbelievable
the land near the casinos is owned by the park family, the park cattle family, they used to run cattle here and bought the land over 150 years ago at 2 bucks an acre, we are talking thousands of acres! and in the early 20th century attempted to sell the land at 1 buck an acre......thankfully no takers......and now they lease the land under the casinos to the likes of harrah's and such and this particular parcel is connected to the family house and "grandmother's house" and just this last year was renovated from a bed and breakfast (that mark twain stayed in and wrote part of "roughing it" to a personal residence after being vacant for many decades) while we were on the sleigh we saw a plow service come and plow part of the driveway, so maybe the family will be up this christmas
just spectacular lake tahoe views and mountain vistas and rickety sleigh creaks being pulled by 2 belgian blonde rescue draft horses that were nursed back to health by the borges family that runs and rents the sleigh rides.....another long in the tooth lake tahoe family with all family working the operation, nice to support a local business!

we sang jingle bells while the horses ran the flat meadow back to the boarding station! soooo fun! and the horses can pull 6ooo pounds together so our sleigh felt light
kind of cool too how they always stop at the same spots for a rest on their own.....and we got to give them alfalfa treats after we de-sleighed
They don't make lighthouses the way they used to. There is a traditional lighthouse at the entrance to the harbor at Holland, Michigan, but there is also this device that helps guide mariners. It just doesn't have quite the same visual appear as a traditional lighthouse.

oh, and LOOK AT MY NEW EARRINGS they are fabulous. they remind me of something my mom would have worn at my age, which is cool, I think. <3

O.k. Yet another old rotting building. This is not a barn, I don’t think. I believe it’s a Feed barn and a Trappers Dry House. Or whatever they are called. It has Four rooms and a feed stall. A place to fatten up a Cow before…..Well you know. And a big room for hanging skins to dry. There’s still a deer skin on the outside above the door. I remember when it looked like a deer skin. First time I have ever got a close look at it. In the summer its completely covered in vines and growth .Hard to shoot because of all the growth around it now. but I tried.
