The same hytte as in the former photo. A hytte is a Norwegian term that has traditionally been used for a smaller building, especially in the mountains, by the sea or out in the woods and fields, intended for short-term accommodation and with few or no modern conveniences.
Strandavatnet is a lake in Hol municipality, Norway. The lake covers an area of 23.75 square kilometres (9.17 sq mi), and lies 975 metres (3,199 ft) above sea level.' The lake is a reservoir for the Rud hydroelectric powerstation in Hovet, Buskerud. In 1952/1953 a dam was constructed which lifted the lake level 28 meters, thus the lake varies between 950 and 978 m above sea level. Read more: www.wikiwand.com/en/Strandavatnet
Adding the last five uninspiring photos taken two days ago. Not the best quality, but posting for my own records.
The day before yesterday, 17 March 2022, I took a last-minute afternoon drive SE of Calgary. The sun was shining and I just felt like getting out somewhere for a few hours. The roads are clear of snow, which makes such a huge difference.
No new roads for me this time; just checking out a few of my usual back roads. It was great to see that there was a lot of open water, both sloughs and temporary 'ponds' in fields. We have had so little snow this winter - small amounts on quite a few days - which is not going to help Alberta's drought. March is said to be our snowiest month but, so far, the weather has been beautiful. Looking at the forecast, they are expecting this mild weather to continue, even 18C for 23rd March.
My first sighting turned out to be a Bald Eagle. When I first spotted the distant dark 'blob' high up in a tree in a tangle of branches, I thought maybe it was a Great Horned Owl. It was almost impossible to get a tiny open spot to take a photo or two. (from my car window), but nice to see.
In places, there were so many birds in the fields. At first, I expected them all to be Canada Geese. However. when I zoomed in, I was delighted to see that there lots of Northern Pintail ducks scattered among the Geese. Pintails are such beautiful, elegant ducks and it is always good to see them return.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I found three Snowy Owls! The first one I found was a new (to me) bird; my fifth Snowy this winter. I had noticed a few birds in a field, mainly Canada Geese, but then took a look at one that looked different and smaller. At first, for some reason, 'gull' came to mind, but when I saw it from a slightly different angle, I realized that I was looking at a Snowy Owl, down on the ground near the Geese.
Continuing my drive, I came across two Snowy Owls, a male and a female, that I had seen before. Couldn't get a half-decent photo of either. Both were skittish, despite my sitting in my car way down the road from them.
A group of European Starlings were fun to see. Love it when they actually stay still for a moment. Though they are not popular birds with many people, they are beautiful, especially in the sunlight.
Is it lack of self-respect?, lack of dignity?, a complete disconnect from reality? Or are they just plain ol’ dumb as they come? IDFK (shrug).

The same location as the previous one on the south side of Leeds, by Wakefield Rd. signal box, looking towards Wakefield. Carriage and wagon repair shops were on the other side of the tracks (Leeds-City-Derby-St.Pancras), the sidings on the right once led to Stourton engine shed (55B).

A recent commission I did for somebody: a Voyager probe in the same 1:70 scale as the recently released Discovery shuttle! Free instructions for this on my Rebrickable.
Hey, I stream LEGO on Tuesdays and Fridays on Twitch and I'd love if you'd check my IDEAS project out!
Same shot as before but different - because the original edit just wasn't quite mad enough! One for Sliders Sunday :-)
I'll delete one or the other - probably...
Note: In December 2019, I discovered that my lens had been incorrectly reassembled by a previous owner with the rear element reversed. This made a quite pleasant soft focus lens but my early shots are not representative of it's true performance. Correctly assembled, it provides far better IQ.

Green River overlook view before and after sunrise, I was staying at the campground nearby, I took the 2 evenly lit photos more than 1 hour before sunrise, before going to Mesa Arch, after taking 50+ photos around the sunrise there, I went back to the same spot to take the post sunrise photo.
