„Metal against rust - just a matter of time...“

On the hunt in the salty marshlands.

A rusty segment on a parabolic catenary series of white-painted chains in rear carpark of a business on Kensington Road.

I had to change the title after my husband helpfully informed me that hanging chains are NOT upside down parabolas.

So, catenary is the root for concatenate, ie chaining together. I learned something today!

I normally only see Rusty Blackbirds during spring and fall migrations. This year was no exception. On the first coupe days of our October camping trip there were a number of these birds foraging on empty campsites around the campground. As more campers moved in, the birds moved on to forage elsewhere.

I captured this male in non-breeding plumage during my short time with them.

Rusty Blackbird is a species that breeds in much of Canada, and in much of Alaska as well as the far northeastern USA. It is a late migrator in the fall on its way to wintering grounds in much of southeastern and central USA. Thus it not surprising that there was snow on the ground when this bird was seen in Carburn Park, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on a late October day.

In keeping with posting some of my found trucks on Thursdays - here is another beauty I found.

I retire from full time work this week after 46 years and hope to get out and do more truck hunting and will mist likely start a HTT Group (Happy Truck Thursday!

Fantastic rusty iron facade of the new State Drill Core Reference Library building, built in Tonsley Park. The facade design really reflects the purpose of the building too.

Tonsley Park is where Mitsubishi used to have its car factory in South Australia.

For Smile on Saturday's 'Rusty Beauty' theme

I got some nice views of a Rusty Blackbird foraging in a small creek this afternoon.. This is the first shot I've taken of a Rusty Blackbird.

A rusty old vehicle languishes near Butte, Montana. There is a "for sale" sign posted on it, but it has been there for so long the phone number has faded out.

Happy Saturated Saturday!

This rusted old Mercury is one of the pics from the past year that has made it into my 2017 calendar, that I just ordered today. It's really difficult to reduce a year of photography to a dozen images. Taken near Trochu, Alberta.

Quintet of rusty and crusty Nails

The rusty blackbird is a medium-sized New World blackbird, closely related to grackles ("rusty grackle" is an older name for the species). It is a bird that prefers wet forested areas, breeding in the boreal forest and muskeg across northern Canada, and migrating southeast to the United States during winter.

Formerly abundant, the rusty blackbird has undergone one of the most rapid declines of any abundant bird species in North America in recent years, for reasons that are not well understood. (Wikipedia)

Not exacly! The roofing tiles bear rusty hues of color, perhaps more in the family of burnt sienna tones on this Zurich house. These are nearly the same colors I'm seeing today in the late Autumn foliage around New England, particularly after it has rained.
