Part of the rusting tractor I found in the Pennypack Preserve. Liked the shadow made by the chain...
Seen on the side of some old equipment while photographing Day Fire aftermath. This was originally posted in 2007, but I did some cropping and minor editing and re-posted.
This morning's topic for Our Daily Challenge is 'Rust & Rot.' I had to laugh at myself for joyfully thinking, "Oh good, I know where that rusting bulldozer is!" It still works. My landlord uses it. Its down at the bottom of the field that Wiki Kitty and I walk most days together.
Patterns of rust on a sheet of steel found propped against the fence of a storage yard near downtown Phoenix.
I like this image because the shape of the rusted area, and the rusted area's inner texture, was suggestive of one of the types of images that one can generate on a computer by using Fractals. The rusted area looks to me to resemble "Mandelbrot's Dragon"
The gate at former Emperor Haile Selassie's once splendid winter residence • Massawa, Eritrea
Former Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie's Imperial Palace (winter residence) in Massawa (formerly Ethiopia, now Eritrea) was attacked in 1990 by the Soviet-backed DERG government of Mengistu Haile Mariam during the Ethiopian-Eritrean war (after Massawa had been captured by units of the Eritrean People's Liberation Front earlier that year). The palace was heavily damaged during the attack, and since Eritrea's independence to this day the structure has been
basically abandoned.
This chain keeps the ugly orange trash can from . . . being stolen from the park? The chain is beautiful, though--so I'm glad they're worried about such things.
Photowalked with my buddy Jeff this morning. This was my first time out with my new 70-200, which as expected was a pleasure.
Seems an lot of it on our Alexanders this spring. A lot more than usual, the Romans found not be eating it for their veggies in this condition!
