This gall is very common on nettles, and can appear on the stem, leaf stalk, leaf, or the (very small and inconspicuous) flowers of the plant. The gall is caused by a fungus, Puccinia urticata ("nettle rust", or "nettle clustercup rust").
A rusted bolt on a bridge along a bicycle trail south and west of Lincoln, Nebraska. I thought it looked interesting.
A few of my favorite things: wildflowers, rust, and blue sky! Edited a bit using Nik filters and a texture. FM 594 near Lake Somerville, north of Brenham, Texas.

Today I decided to visit a creek near the railroad track by my house. I enjoy observing things and this rusted bolt on the edge of the track caught my eye. How symbolic!
This batch was taken with a long lens through a chain link fence. The trucks were too close to get the whole of any of them, but it was a fun shoot anyway!
