As I said in a previous picture there is a rural nature to this part of the city and it is a bit less well developed than others. I hope the price of progress isn't losing places like this along the way. Note the extra large TV just dumped on the doorstep

Some rural rustic-ness out the back of Mangaweka. An old farm gate and fence with the snowy Ruahine Ranges in the far distance. Not sure what use the gate would be with the large tree behind it!

// rustic meadow is a new escape that changes with the season. come see what you'll discover as things aren't always what they seem.
best experienced in dim light (midnight, sunset, sunrise).
This time of year is difficult for me. It's dark when I go to work and gets dark pretty soon after I get home so there's not much time for photography. So I went back through some old photos from our trip last year to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I don't remember the name of this old church but it was very charming. I cannot get enough of these old split rail fences that dot the already breathtaking landscape everywhere you look in this part of the country.

This is part of a photo shoot I did for an artist friend in her studio. Oh, to have a studio like this! Lots of windows and natural light. Anyway, this old enamelware bowl full of chinese lanterns was just begging for a shot. I had to oblige.

This is the ancient village of Dunilovo in the Ivanovo region. This village is unique in that there are many temples in it, in different sources they write about 11 or 12 of them. The Teza River flows through the village. All this makes the village attractive for photographers.
We arrived at Dunilovo at dawn, hoping for a fog, and we were rewarded for getting up early. A rather dense fog swirled over the river. The sky in the east was beginning to lighten, and it was necessary to quickly look for interesting angles. It was quite cold, and the grass was covered with frost, which complemented the fog perfectly. The guys mounted their telephoto lenses on tripods to capture the first rays of the sun through the fog. I was an outcast in their company because I forgot my telephoto lens at home. So, I went looking for other angles. If anyone gets the feeling that I am very distracted, then this is a very true feeling.
I went towards the temple, hoping that there were boats by the river. The feeling of a missed shot due to a forgotten telephoto lens vanished when I spotted a boat at the pier. I built my frame and waited for the first rays of the sun. Soon the first fisherman came and he perfectly complemented my shot. I drank hot coffee and just enjoyed the dawn, almost in absolute silence. Sometimes a fish splashed in the river and a fisherman coughed, a bird flying past flapped its wings. With unhurried steps, without fuss and noise, breathing the cool foggy air, the usual village dawn was coming ... Soon he will turn the frost into shining dew and disperse the fog, filling the day with his warmth, but before this happens, I took my shot

One of my favorite native plants nurseries feature facades of houses, complete with windows. It is easy to get lost down the pathways. That's possibly one of the reasons I enjoy it.
I paid the local Rustic Bunting another visit today. As you can see he's really coloured up since I last photographed him.

Rustic bridge (made from a single trunk) leading into the woods on the National Trust's Longshaw Estate in the Derbyshire Peak District.
Previously I've done a lot of real estate & architectural photography for estate agents and realtors. Now I'm mixing that up with this rustic island vibe.
