Every year we work with New Media Scotland to deliver an Atmosphere event – an immersive cinema experience. If you enjoyed Wreck-It Ralph in 2016 or Coco in 2018 then we have a special treat for you this year: the futuristic film Blade Runner.
Ridley Scott’s seminal 1982 science-fiction fantasy dystopia of replicant robots gone rogue in Los Angeles is set in November 2019, the same month that both the ‘Hello, Robot. Design between Human and Machine’ exhibition at V&A Dundee and the NEoN Digital Arts Festival open.
Join us for the first time inside V&A Dundee’s Locke Hall as it is transformed into the Tyrell Corporation for one night only to host our expanded screening of this iconic film. Come dressed as your favourite character for some neo-noir cinematic fun, with prizes to be won. Over 15s only.
This ties into NEoN’s theme this year – REACT – as the film questions how we might react to a society that insists on divisions between ‘us’ and ‘them’ to justify dehumanising practices including slave labour and genocide. A study in techno-capitalism, the film presents an uncomfortable dystopia and forces us to confront a future that thankfully hasn’t arrived yet….

"The Runner" is a sculpture by Kostas Varotsos. It is made of sheets of glass stacked into the shape of an enormous runner 12 meters tall.

This is a photograph from the 2nd Annual Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon which was held in Dublin, Ireland on Monday 4th August 2014 at 08:30. The Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon also incorporated the Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI) National Half Marathon Championships which was open to all eligible runners registered with an AAI affiliated athletics club. The race started in Dublin City center at North Wall Quay and Castleforbes Road on the Liffey. The route then went West out of the city bringing runners along the famous South Quays to Inchicore and then taking a slight northerly direction into the Phoenix Park. The race finished in the Phoenix Park with runners following over half of the course within the grounds of the famous park. Over 7,000 people took part. The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series is one of the largest running series in the world with events primarily taking place in North American Cities. However, recently the franchise has spread to Europe. One of the unique aspects of the race is that every course features live bands along the course along with cheering teams of supporters at water stations. In the Phoenix Park today there was a large entertainment area at the Finish line for competitors, families and friends to enjoy.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from a large set of photographs from the SSE Airtricity Dublin Half Marathon 2015 which was held in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland on Saturday September 19th 2015 at 10:00. This half marathon is the final race in the SSE Airtricity Dublin Race Series which sees four races organised over the summer months in preparation for the Dublin City Marathon in October. This half marathon is one of the largest mass participation sporting events in Ireland and is by far the largest individual half marathon race in Ireland. Almost 7,000 participants took part in the race today which is ran almost entirely in the Phoenix Park. To help with congestion on the race course the race starts in three separate waves which allows faster runners start first. The weather was cool and dry with just a little breeze. Overall the weather was very suitable for road racing and running. The next challenge or race for those taking part today is the Dublin City Marathon at the end of October 2015.

This is a photograph from the 14th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 2nd August 2013 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 180 participants
Weather: Whilst there was a threat of thundery showers the evening was dry and humid with temperatures around 18C. The runners had a breeze in their faces for the first 2 km but this turned to a tail breeze for the remainder of the race.
Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards.
