It is funny how people react when they see a camera, many did just as this guy and I am happy to take the picture.

Mitja marató disputada a Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona) per primer cop.

The first Half Marathon held at Sant Joan Despi (Barcelona). The race was done near the Llobregat river and it was very interesting and nice landscapes.

If you`re happy to run just run this way

By keeping fit you`ll live another day

Even if your arches crumble and drop away

Or your tendons pop as they go astray

Cause running is an well known extreme sport

Never to be mixed with the drinking of Port

So every time you do the 100 metre dash

You increase your chances of breaking out in a rash

If the only thing that runs is your nose

You`ll avoid blisters breaking out on your toes

So think twice before you go lacing up those trainers

Unless a medical team you have on retainers

If by running you hope to avoid being left on the shelf

Think for a minute of the damage you`re doing to yourself

Perhaps a peaceful walk at a pace set slow

Will stop you becoming a John or Jane Doe

This Sunday I went to Mexilhoeira beach by the end of the day. An (almost) new moon tide and a fogy weather, kept most people of the beach, leaving an endless and almost immaculate extension of sand for me and my surf rods. By sunset this runner and I where the only souls on sight : )

~another view of this beach on high tide here

The weather was terrible the whole weekend, so I had to delete most of the photos I took. Too bad.

Photos from the 13th Human Race

I didn’t have any time, so just pulled out my flash and started to snap some shots from the ground and power lines be damned! Sometimes I got lucky like in this shot. (If you are wondering, I am using the D70’s commander mode to remotely trigger a flash that I placed on the ground next to me).

I had forgotten that my camera was set at ISO800 (argh). Lucky for me the D70 has a flash sync speed of 1/500 of a second or it would have been a total disaster.

I removed some of the annoyances (cones, signs, power lines) from the photo. I did a blend with the normal output because Adobe Camera RAW’s default settings blew out the highlights on the runners skin.

After that, I blended with a saturation to brightness digital filter to create a stylisting effect.

Morgan Hill photo club theme “Shoes and Hats”

Dromeas, also called The Runner, is made of individual pieces of glass stacked atop each other to take the blurred shape of a runner in motion. Thousands of sharp, jagged pieces of glass form the sculpture.

The running figure is the work of Costas Varotsos, who began working on it in 1988 and didn’t finish until 1994. It was originally erected at Omonia Square, but it was later moved because people grew concerned construction and the vibrations from the underground metro would cause it to shatter or topple.

It’s a fitting sculpture within a city with so much running history—Athens was, after all, the final destination of Pheidippides’s famous run from the Battle of Marathon. But unfortunately, the artwork wasn’t met with unanimous appeal. Though some heralded the innovative sculpture, others were less-than-pleased with its unusual appearance.
