The rolling hills of Ferney La Vallée, in Mauritius. This area is a forest and wildlife reserve near Mahébourg. The main purpose of the reserve is to conserve and restore indigenous forests - less than 2% of the indigenous ecosystems of Mauritius remain intact.
This one caught us by surprise. We were heading further west, but with the road showing as closed on Google maps we played it safe and were standing around trying to work out what was coming next when 66726 popped in to a spot of sunshine at Chellaston.
Conrail SD50s 6741 and 6787 rolled through Union Furnace with coal load UFY-842 on the Middle Division in 1994.
At the time, Conrail was a well-managed and successful railroad, which unfortunately led to its demise as NS and CSX gobbled it up in 1999.
With the glorious, undulating countryside of Rutland for a setting, Class 66 locomotive No. 66724 Drax Power Station rolls over Seaton viaduct with 6F78, the 14:22 Tunstead to Wellingborough working on Wednesday 20th April 2022.
Seaton viaduct is situated on the Oakham to Kettering line (completed circa 1878) and stands between Glaston Tunnel (1 mile, 82 yards) and the shorter Seaton Tunnel.
Pan Am Southern 16R, disguised as an NS train, passes the former B&M Rices freight house on a sunny Sunday morning a couple weeks ago.
I didn't get nearly enough time in Yoho, but I did find my way to the Natural Bridge. Amazing colour in the water, incredible land forms. Wish I spent a bit more time at this spot and explored some more compositions, but I did like this one in the end.
I took this picture when a bit of cloud cover rolled in to block the direct sunlight and create a bit more of a flat image.

Norfolk Southern C40-9 8873 and another NS GE led the Roadrailer Z-EMCH train past some leaning signals on the Union Pacific's Milwaukee Subdivision in Gurnee, Illinois back in 2007.
The 8873 has since been rebuilt as AC44C6M 4080 and the Roadrailers have been retired, throwing that traffic onto the I-94.
Looking in the north, I located Mt Ushiro Tateyamas (on the farthest back in the center for Mt Shirouma/Hakuba and others). Lingering snow on them gullies were still visible even fom here. Alas, Mt Kashimayari got hidden in clouds. Now I must say bye-bye to them and hurry my way to Mt Otensho.
This was always going to be a wheel that needed greater motion and a well timed longer exposure lended that movement in the end!

They were preparing for a parade, but the streets were still empty. A few of these mobile vendors were walking the streets hoping to make a sale. I have the utmost respect for these folks, many of whom are immigrants. They struggle to make ends meet and engage in business or labor as best they can. Their dreams may be large, but the reality is a whole lot grittier.

After setting out a singular gondola in the house track at Lebanon Junction, M573 rolls over the massive truss bridge over the Rolling Fork with a YN2 CW44 doing the honors. This bridge is often outshined by the L&N coaling tower just a mile to the north, and one I've been neglecting to shoot properly for a long time.
MC GP28 2009 leads a transformer heading to Hyannis and 4 Massdot ballast hoppers being used for dumping stone along the Cape main.

Indiana and Ohio SD50S 5016 (built in Australia as Hammersley Iron 6063 in 1982), was departing Emory Grove for Union Bridge on Maryland Midland's UBEG turn on a hellacold afternoon. It was passing Reisterstown Lumber on its way home.
The Aussie motor had worked for the Utah Railway before finding its way to the Midwest for the I&O and now it has washed up in Maryland.
