Evening is here and kind of sunset is coming. Than I say kind of, I really mean kind of ;)
It is so north, that at this time sun never really goes away, it is hiding just just bellow the horizon, but it is bright as day.
Although it is not a sunset as such, because the sun is so low, the atmosphere scatters light around and creates the magical yellow sky.
Perfect for super warm yellow light sunset.

Woodstown Central was running a photo charter behind the newly reactivated Reading EMD FP7s and a matched set of passenger cars.
The quaint town of Woodstown looked great as multiple runbys were run. It was a great time.
Shot in the rolling hills of Hampshire in 665nm Infrared, using my superb Zhongyi Mitacon 50mm F0.95 lens. The optical imperfections of this lens make for some very nice pictures. Perfection is boring! :)

A northbound Amtrak train powered by GE E60MA No. 608 rolls through the curves at Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 21, 1993. There were so many trains that afternoon, that I don’t recall which one this was.
After spending a Sunday afternoon switching in Middletown, train CT-1 with 11 cars for Cedar Hill Yard passes in Middlefield.

This is the South shore of Hornby Island (see the map). This rolling meadow begins at the edge of our friend's property and ends in 100 ft cliffs made of the most amazing aggregate rock. Below is a beautiful, horseshoe pebble beach, where we spent a few hours before being picked up in the boat.
A large block of fully loaded Ethanol tank cars rolls over the hogbacks of Northeast Iowa on the Canadian National RR tracks between Jesup and Raymond, Iowa
One of the things that draws me to rail photography is the sheer enormity of trains, and the power required to move them.
Each of these tank cars (go ahead and try to count them) potentially has 30,000+ gallons of E95-E100 ethanol and each car in a trains can have a gross rolling weight (if loaded) of 100+ tons. A 10,000 ton train, which is not unusual, has a rolling weight of 20 million pounds. Or the weight of 20+ fully fueled and loaded 747 passenger jets, each carrying 300+ passengers
That's why I like trains LOL
A happy Tofu enjoyed the lovely sunshine yesterday morning in the garden ... until he decided that it was too hot and he returned indoors. I'm quite pleased that it finally feels like summer but I don't have fur. :)
This awesome and scary looking shelf cloud rolled through our area in Northern Illinois last week. Unbelievably, all we got from its passage was a little wind and a few sprinkles. Nonetheless, we ended up getting more than 2" of rain that day from the less "picturesque" storms....
