Yesterday was Queen Elizabeth's Birthday, so Happy 96th Birthday, Queen!
Built for Rogue Olympics and the theme for the seventh round is Birthday!
In each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations (this one is 45). You can join the contest in any round on Rogue Bricks Forum!
It's Tuesday, fifth week and also fifth round of RogueOlympics 2023. This round's theme is "chain". Time to make Tuesday to Taco Tuesday, representative for several fast food chains, esp. taco or mexican food chains.
I used 79 parts for the moc that are mostly used to hold everything in place, since the pic is made without any cheating ;)
The end of 2022 and start of 2023 were particularly busy for me, so my recap is a bit late.
I was happy to complete 31 MOCs in 2022 across a variety of themes. Naturally castle and sci-fi saw the most representation, but I also enjoyed revisiting some favorite themes from the past thanks to the Roguebricks annual challenge.
Other contests and challenges I managed to participate in included Space Jam, Febrovery, RogueOlympics, SHIPtember, Novvember, Creations for Charity, the Colossal Castle Contest, and Guilds of Historica’s anniversary challenge.
We were glad to host the Summer Joust again this year and once again astonished by the show you all put on! Looking forward to this year’s installment already.
I had the pleasure of attending Skaerbaek in September and had a great time talking with old friends and finally getting to meet builders in person who I had known for years online.
I also made it back to the US for two visits with family, and on both occasions John and I were able to collaborate on scenes: Life in Allanar and Everdell Chapel.
Three new Minecraft products I worked on were released: 21187, 21242, 21245.
And something very different from Minecraft in the shape of 76989, the Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck.
Most popular models:

Everdell Chapel – 16 comments, 324 faves
Project Azarel – 16 comments, 140 faves
Life in Allanar – 15 comments, 421 faves
NX Kilonova – 15 comments, 216 faves,
Personal favorites:
Everdell Chapel for sure, along with Project Azarel and AT Goliath Land Transport.
Many thanks to all of you for providing endless inspiration for new MOCs and the amazing camaraderie that makes the LEGO community what it is.
I would love to hear which builds of mine you enjoyed most last year!
Here comes my entry for round 4 of RogueOlympics 2023.
This time the subject is "Garten" (garden).
So, this time I have focused on the joy of gardening. What can be more pleasing than sitting in his/her own garden (e.g. in a good old German Schrebergarten), looking at all the hard work's outcome?
But wait! Is it always pure joy? Not at all! Some little ceatures want their share as well. And they will get into a serious conflict with the gardener for sure.
Sometimes, it can escalate into a threatening situation!
I can imagine what could happen if my wife could get hold of a gun...
Enjoy!
The end of the year always seems to sneak up on me, but here is an overdue recap.
I finished 36 MOCs and Sci-fi and Castle remained my most built subjects. Also had the pleasure of seeing two more Minecraft sets released: 21176 and 21183.
As usual many of the models were inspired by community events or contests: Space Jam, Febrovery, Guilds of Historica, RogueOlympics, Mech Monday, SHIPtember, Novvember, the CCC, BricksCalibur, and the RogueBricks Bauble Exchange were all a great amount of fun to participate in and resulted in several of my personal favorite builds.
With plenty of help from friends, John and I were able to host the Summer Joust again, and have our minds absolutely blown by the quantity and quality of the entries. It's crazy to see how much the event has grown over the past 6 years!
In September I was able to attend Skaerbaek Fan Weekend for the first time and I hugely enjoyed getting to talk with so many other builders and see their work in person. Can only recommend the event if you are able to go!
Special thanks to Johannes, Jonas, and Markus for letting me stay with them.
I was thankfully able to visit family for the holidays, and John and I took advantage of some of that time to build two models together.
Most popular builds:
Everdell Castle: 356 Faves, 21 Comments
Tryandal: 325 Faves, 18 Comments
Life in Allanar: 288 Faves, 12 Comments
Personal favorites:
Comierre Battle Cruiser, Everdell Castle:, and Slumbering Giant.
Thank you all for continuing to inspire me to keep building and supporting my efforts!
Would love to hear if you had a favorite model :)
As a young god, Vulcan found out that he can control fire. Not even that, but he was also able to produce it from thin air. Years later he will learn that his fire is the Scorching Turtles favorite snack.
My build for Rogue Olympics 2021 Round 4*. In each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations. This one is 71 pieces.
The sun rises brightly again, the flowers slowly awaken from their sleep and the gardener takes a deep breath and smells: spring.

Built for the Rogue Olympics, Round 1. Topic: "Twilight".

My build for round 8 of Rogue Olympics 2025. The theme is "Class". The English word "Class" also refers to lesson or classroom which is what I have built.
97 parts are used in this and the full submission can be seen on Rogue Bricks: roguebricks.de/forum/index.php?thread/5254-classroom/
King Peanut was young, rich, famous and enjoyed the finer things in life. One of which was his ultra expensive dragon named Piñata. "The unicorn of dragons", as he used to call it, was shipped specially for him from Latin America.
Built for Rogue Olympics and the theme for the fifth round is Wildlife!
In each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations (this one is 66). You can join the contest in any round on Rogue Bricks Forum!
Traces of prey,
hot breath in cold air;
silence, then fury.
And now for something completely different, because the Rogue Olympics are back, a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces. This is my entry for Round 2, with the topic "Gefahr / Peril".
I've been playing a lot of The Long Dark again lately, so I built a little homage to it. Since even when you finally find a firearm, Great Bear Island still offers enough perils that can creep up on you if you don't stay aware of your surroundings, like the eponymous bear himself. The squirrel is a bit of artistic license, since there aren't any in the game. But how can you build a nature scene without a squirrel? ;-)
The third round of this year’s RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks asked for some 'volume'.
Sure, volume is sound or an amount of space, but being the bookworm that I used to be, I immediately had to think of the numerous volumes that I had binge-read over the years. And so this week's MOC is a little love letter to the written word, and the imaginary worlds that those can conjure.
The RogueOlympics require you to stick to 101 elements or less so this little scene was built with a total of 100 bricks.
Five more rounds to go, we barely started! Feel free to join in on the fun!
This time in Rogue Olympics 2021 Round 5 the theme is "Big and Small". For some reason it was really hard to think of something and this was the only idea that came to my mind :D
In each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations. This one is 50 pieces...or 49?
2021 was quite a busy year for me, but surprisingly still ended up being one of my more productive years with regards to LEGO! I ended up completing a total of 27 models, and was able to compete in several contests throughout the year.
At the top of the list is competing in Iron Builder not once, but twice! It was an honor and pleasure to face off against the incredibly talented Jayfa in February/March, and then Dan Ko in November/December. I never really thought I would have the opportunity to compete in even one IB round, so to have participated in 3 now is a bit hard to believe! And I have to say a massive thank-you to everyone who commented on builds or sent me messages throughout all of my time competing. It truly means a lot! And also a massive thank-you to Markus and Simon for doing all the behind the scenes work to make this competition possible!
As always, running the Summer Joust with Isaac and many other friends from the LEGO community was another highlight of the year. Not only did we have a record number of entries this year, but the quality was astonishing as well! It's so inspiring to see what all of you create.
Competing in the RogueOlympics for the first time was also super fun - It was one of, if not the first time I had competed in a contest with a piece limitation. I didn't expect to want to jump right into another competition after having just finished an IB round, but it proved to be really enjoyable challenge, and pushed me to build a bit differently than I was used to.
After several years, it was also so much fun to finally be able to complete a couple collabs with Isaac, and I'm already looking forward to when we are able to do another.
Overall I think this was probably my most diverse year when it comes to building - I dabbled a bit in sci-fi, steampunk, brick-built animals, life-size replicas, vehicles, microscale, characters, constraction, and even a little bit of video and stop motion (which gave me even more awe and respect for those who do stop-motion films :D).

The sixth round of this year’s RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks brought with it the prompt 'mind'.
I had a tough time with this week's prompt and only had an idea Sunday afternoon – this had to get turned around quickly as a result! Very happy with the dragon face though – teal is still a tough color to work with!
The RogueOlympics require you to stick to 101 elements or less so this little scene was built with a total of 101 bricks.
Two more rounds to go! Feel free to join in on the fun!
Robin meets little John for the first time trying to cross a bridge. My mandatory model for this years På Kloss Hold, Brikkelaugets annual exebition in Trondheim. Had to be a 16x16 studs build to hang on the wall. Was an inspiration for my 7th round build for RogueOlympics aswell.
The prompt for Round 2 of the RogueOlympics was “Adventure”.
Of course one of my first thoughts was the Adventurers theme, and Dino Island in particular due to many fond memories of that zone in LEGO Racers 2, and it giving me a chance to use some dinosaurs.
The scene uses 101 parts, and the only elements not attached are the accessories in crates on the back of Johnny’s jeep.
Special thanks to Marin for the Johnny Thunder fig, and John for some help with the photo edit.
When the Emperor of Krull wanted to find out Great A'Tuins gender he had a "spaceship" constructed to toss over the Discworld rim - but how did poor Rincewind manage to not be in the ship?? Find the answer in "The Color of Magic" and "The Light Fantastic" by Terry Pratchett!
Roguebricks.de RogueOlympics round 4: "Magical" in no ore then 101 bricks. My own special task: whatever the theme, make a spaceship
A classroom blackboard with the impulse graph on it, can you finish it?
For the RogueOlympics 2022, round 6 - Impulse (not more then 101 bricks, this is 90)
The new Space Police Guys require some new equipment to hunt those new Backtron Bounty Hunters...
This small build is my first entry to the RogueOlympics on www.roguebricks.de.
wait... no... we are not getting a third child. 😆 It is RogueOlympics again. Round 7 and the topic is -birthday-. And as usual for that contest, only 101 parts are allowed to use. The topic reminds me of the birth of our children. We didn’t wanted to know the gender of our first child, so it was a surprise and yes, it was a boy.
Built for Round 5 of the RogueOlympics with 101 parts.
Two weeks ago, the German entertainment show "Klein gegen Groß" was on TV with one of Germany' best comedians: Otto Waalkes. In addition to his shows, songs and films Otto is also known for his legendary Ottifants.
At this point I was thinking about whether it might not be a good idea to make an Ottifanten with bricks.
So when the theme "Big and Small" was announced this week, I already knew what to build ;)
Since the Ottifant itself surprisingly turned out smaller than expected, I decided to add a decent Background with the typical East Frisian Lighthouse.
Hollerehidi!
Eighth and last round of Rogue Olympics 2024, as always with a piece count limit of 101. Topic is "focus" or the german word "Fokus". In Germany you can also call it "Brennpunkt" and since I like to interpret topics a bit I thought about "Brennpunktviertel" which means something like "deprived districts". So I built a small scene of a woman defending the trailor park and her home from being cleared. The scene is a free interpretation of the clearing of the Bambule trailer park in Hamburg in 2002.
My Entry for the RogueOlympics 2020 Week 2 where you have to build a MOC with the limit of max 101 Legoparts.
This week's theme: Two Dimensions
My entry for the 5th round (big and small) of the Rogue Olympics at Rogue Bricks. The only restriction is a max. amount of 101 parts. I used 90 parts for this build. Here you can look behind the scene:

This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2021 Round 6, with the topic "Natur" ("nature"). The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (which my entry reaches exactly).
I really struggled to come up with an idea for this one. I ultimately settled for a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of garbage and dead people, where nature slowly starts to gain control of the planet again. It might be a somewhat optimistic statement about nature hopefully surviving humanity and its endeavours.
My entry for round 8 of the RogueOlympics 2023. The word was "Ikonen", so I build the most iconic Lego character of all time, Johnny Thunder, on his day off in his office. In the background his four big adventures are represented by his souvenirs.
Path in focus,
body in balance;
keep moving!
This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2024 Round 4, with the topic "Balance". The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (which I used exactly, including three Bygglek boxes from IKEA).
As a big fan of parkour one of the first things I thought about for the topic were bodily balance and control of movement. So I went back to videogames again and built an homage to Mirror's Edge, trying to capture the game's unique and clean aesthetics as much as the part limit and my limited experience with photography and image processing allowed.
Next round of the actual contest on RogueBricks.de
This time the topic is ,mechanical'. And of course again with not more than 101 elements.
So I picked two LEGO container carts with handholds (30150) and put all the mechanical stuff inside to let the HipHop Minifigs do some breakdancing.
I guess totally not more than 60 parts. So, this is the smallest HipHop Stage in the (LEGO) world.
For round 3 of the RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks the topic called for "Emotions". And, of course, to only use 101 bricks.
The weather's been lovely lately and I had the weird idea to use those Friends surfboard sails for the wings of a butterfly. Add a few flowers and a cute bee to the mix – spring fever it is!
Not quite satisfied with the picture, that foil is hard to photograph! Oh, and yes, I did edit out the Heartlake City branding on the foil ;)
71 bricks in total, was a fun one!
This is for Rogue Olympics Round 1. In each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations. I've used exactly 57 pieces.
It's an open theme, so I chose to do a Star Wars one. Some of you know how much I like the Razor Crest and I love to build new version of it. So here's another one :)
For round 2 of the RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks the topic called for "Two Dimensions". And, of course, to only use 101 bricks.
Having spent way too many hours on my crappy Nokia in the early 2000s playing Space Invaders I was quickly drawn to the idea of building a 2D side scrolling game.
But what if one could actually play that? A fun question, and after throwing the correct search terms into Google I found a software called GDevelop – and after three evenings of messing around with that and with Stud.io to get the necessary imagery I had a working level.
If you want to try it out, please follow this LINK.
Its just a single level and probably still has a few bugs but I had good fun making it work. Works best on a computer!
You will only need your arrow keys and the space bar :)
Enjoy!
"Klaatu Verata Nectu"
...Ash should have said as he took the Necronomicon off the altar.
Since he didn't listen carefully and therefor forgot the last word of spell, he brought the terrible Army of Darkness back to life.
This is my entry for the seventh round of RogueOlympics, this time themed "Birthday" - again built only with 101 pieces.
In the 4th round of the Rogueolympics the topic was "garden". My personal garden is just my balcony, so I decided to build that. And since the Fools Garden song "Lemon Tree" was stuck in my head there is even a small piece of green, to lighten up the grey.
The first round of this year’s RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks asked for something 'As Sweet as Sugar'.
The theme was a good excuse to go a bit bonkers with candy colors. I definitely stayed in the comfort-zone though making a lollypop-armed fighter. These characters are definitely pushing the part limit!
The RogueOlympics require you to stick to 101 elements or less so this little scene was built with a total of 100 bricks.
Seven more rounds to go, we barely started! Feel free to join in on the fun!
My contributions to the 2022 RogueOlympics, a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces.
It was an immensely fun event again and seeing everyone's awesome builds and interesting interpretations of the often somewhat abstract topics was really cool. I'm glad I got to participate every single week this year and I got the chance to build a lot of things I might otherwise never have built just on my own, but that were neat little engagements and experiments every week anew. I also got a bit more "courageous" with regards to image post-processing this time for some of the entries and I'm starting to enjoy this part more and more. A big thanks to the organizers and I'm definitely looking forward to next year!
Most of my builds were based on film and TV content, but I guess that's just a big part of my inspiration. I might be least satisfied with the Dune entry. While the build is fine for the pieces I had, the foto feels a little rushed and I could have maybe spent a bit more time on the overall image composition. My favourite is probably the Unstoppable one. I played with the idea of some day building that train for a while and I really like how the whole image turned out. But I'm also very partial to the brick-built raptor.
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
Inspired by the theme of Time and the poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley, I built this scene where Johnny Thunder is the traveler from the antique land.
Built for the Rogue Olympics over on the roguebricks.de forums. Each week builders have one week and 101 parts to build a creation for the theme. This week's theme was "Time", and I used 89 bricks.
Is the mouse attacking the kitchen or the mousetrap attacking the mouse?
My build for Rogue Olympics 2025 Round 6 with the theme "Attack".
It was either this or an AED for heart attack.
78 pieces were used.
See the post on Rogue Bricks: roguebricks.de/forum/index.php?thread/5194-mousetrap/
Some days ago a lovely friend sent the little robot Sporty to me. As a thank you I built a bike for the robot and named it after her. This one is also my entry for the first round of the annual contest "RogueOlympics" on www.RogueBricks.de were everybody can participate the next 8 weeks. Just check the site if you are interested.
The challenge in the first round is "Free build with 101 parts".
Sporty is from the theme Duplo Explore: Little Robots. And there are more of them :D
Rogue Olympics is back! The cool “little” contest, where you got to use only 101 parts and come up with sweet LEGO builds!
The first round theme is Twilight and I made Midna, the Twilight Princess from The Legend of Zelda.
Everything about the contest can be found at roguebricks.de.
It is time for RogueOlympics again, where every round we have to get by with no more than 101 bricks. Round one: Above the clouds (and a Sky-Pirate who really wants to get down again)
