The RogueOlympics are nearing completion, and for the 7th round we were given the theme “Birthday”.
My interpretation was inspired by the Alpha Team theme, which somehow is already 21 years old.
One birthday gift I have very fond memories of was #6775 Alpha Team Bomb Squad. My brothers and I got plenty of good play out of that set, but would have loved to have some sort of opposing vehicle from Ogel to battle against. Enter the new Ogel Blitz Tank!
It uses 100 parts (counting Ogel himself), is complete on all sides, comfortably fits Ogel, plus the turret can rotate and raise or lower.

This is my entry for the first round of RogueOlympics 2025, and also my first build for any RogueOlympics.
Based on the theme word of "Twilight," I decided to reflect on the prompt in two different ways in this entry. First, the scene takes place at twilight as an owl gets an early start on its hunting. Second, it seems to be the twilight of this unfortunate mouse's life.
This uses 92 parts. I was very glad to have access to my sister's Duplo collection. I don't think I could have stayed within 101 parts otherwise.
I initially tried to portray a serene scene of the mountains shortly after sunset, but it didn't turn out particularly compelling, and I decided I wanted to go with something a little more active.
The third round of this year’s RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks was a callback to last year's Style it Up! 'Monochrome' category. I fairly early had the idea to do a fire dragon but it wasn't until talking to Jonas after he had posted his Ice Swan that I really hunkered down and figured out how to make it work. Thanks for giving me the motivation to push through!
The RogueOlympics require you to stick to 101 elements or less so this little scene was built with a total of 64 bricks. It’s always great fun to work around those restrictions as it’s so different from most other contests, so of course I had to join.
Feel free to join this ongoing contest yourself! You can join each week for a different theme that needs to be built with 101 elements or less!
RogueOlympics round 3, this time themed „Bon apetit“. It was quite a challenge to build the Pizza Taxi Rod with only 101 pieces (rule of RogueOlympics). To achieve this goal, I had to minimize details on the opposite side of the car. But I payed attention on building everything in a way that it could also be built as a symetric car (excluded the trunk door, which is opened in only one direction).
Up to week three in RogueOlympics and this time the prompt was “Volume”. I went with the literary definition, “a book forming part of a work or series,” building this old library scene. 101 parts used.

Here comes my entry for round 6 of RogueOlympics 2023.
This time the subject is "Wild" (wid).
I have built a key scene from one of my favorite western from the late 60ies - "One Upon a Time in the West".
Enjoy!
Here is my contribution for the “Wild” category of RogueOlympics, week 6. I wanted to make an outrageous concept vehicle that looked super flashy and fast, without being practical in the slightest. Tying into these definition of wild: “not subject to restraint or regulation; going beyond normal or conventional bounds : fantastic, wild ideas, also: sensational”.
So I had fun with super bright colors and large shapes. This time I used just 95 elements.

After making Ogel’s Blitz Tank for RogueOlympics, I had to make an Alpha Team craft to go up against him! This small skimmer was heavily influenced by #6772 Alpha Team Cruiser. The engines can both hinge and rotate, the radar dish can be folded down and stowed away, plus there’s a small cargo space behind the pilot’s seat.

This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2025 Round 1, with the topic "Dämmerung / Twilight". The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (I used 99).
I built something that has been on my list for a long time (albeit originally at a bigger scale), a scene from the First Age of Tolkien lore as described most prominently in The Silmarillion. It shows the two trees of Valinor lighting the world with their silver and golden glow. But Melkor and Ungoliant are already approaching and will ultimately defile the trees forever, bringing nightfall over Valinor.
The original idea for this build was to light the trees with golden and silver LEDs. But while I managed to put an LED in each of the trees, they are hardly noticeable at all. So I tried to emphasize the lighting with my limited post-processing skills instead.
Here's my 3nd contribution to the 2024 Rogue Olympics. A microscale dam section made with 92 parts. The theme was "Volume".

My last entry for the 2023 Rogue Olympics, the theme was Icons.
Exactly 101 parts.

Hey, you bastards, I'm still here!
This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2023 Round 5, with the topic "Ketten / Chains". The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (which I used exactly).
This week's topic made me think mostly of the themes of imprisonment and freedom, so I built the ending of one of the all-time classics of prison movies, where Papillon finally floats towards his freedom on a bag of coconuts as a makeshift raft.
For the 5th round of the contest RogueOlympics on www.RogueBricks.de I built a robin. The robin is loved by my mother-in-law, so she also got a copy :D
The whole model is made with 101 parts.
(Right now I am also working on a kingfisher...but with spread wings.
The invasion of Ukraine is always on my mind. My thoughts are with the people who suffer from this pointless conflict.
This is my entry to the first round of this year's RogueOlympics. The topic is 'Music' and allows for no more than 101 pieces. This piece of work consists of exactly 101 pieces.

This year I only managed to build 4 entries. It started really promising and although I had a few rough ideas for more rounds, it seems like if I didn't have a very clear idea early on to get invested in, I couldn't bring myself to crank out a build over the weekend. However, it was still fun to follow all the other entries and the beauty of the often simple and small builds kind of made me regret not just coming up with something. This year yet again attracted a bunch of new participants, many of which really knocked it out of the park with their entries.
However, the builds I did manage to finish I'm quite satisfied with. I finally built the Valinor idea that I had originally wanted to do for Summer Joust and I'm really happy how it turned out under the part limitations. Also the UPS truck kind of came out of nowhere and I'm really surprised how much people like it.

Perhaps some of you remember this scene from Hotel Transylvania.
Originally intended as a contribution for the first round of the RogueOlympics, I unfortunately had to realize in the process of building it that my design and the idea itself would not work with 101 parts.
But instead of scrapping the model, I decided to create a real (sturdy) model.
Hope you like it! :)
We now need experienced truck drivers, men who are willing to do a dangerous job...The men who qualify, they will receive exceptional wages. Only experienced truck drivers willing to risk their life can do it.
This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2023 Round 3, with the topic "Risiko / Risk". The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (which I used exactly, including support structures and a LEGO plastic bag for the water).
I built an homage to Sorcerer, William Friedkin's brilliant remake of The Wages of Fear. Because what is more risky than driving trucks with highly unstable dynamite hundreds of miles through the South American jungle? But if you have nothing left to lose, you take any risk you can to escape the tropical purgatory that fate has put you in.
The fourth round of this year’s RogueOlympics over on RogueBricks required to find 'balance'.
When I saw the theme for this round, the first thing that came to mind was doing a take on Yin and Yang. Unfortunately the 101 brick limit proved to be too challenging for the required geometry. The sun and the curved branch are what survived from the initial idea – and boy, was it a struggle making it all work! The title is of course inspired by the Brickscalibur category of the same name.
The RogueOlympics require you to stick to 101 elements or less so this little scene was built with a total of 100 bricks.
Three more rounds to go! Feel free to join in on the fun!
Built for the 8th and final round of the RogueOlympics - the theme is "Upside Down". I thought the upside down flamingos as croquet mallets from "Alice in Wonderland", and the bent over cards as wickets, would fit the theme quite well.
Uses 101 parts.
My favorite contest is back! Rogue Olympics has already started and the first theme for Round 1 is Music.
The coolest part of the contest is that in each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations. As I love small builds, I really enjoy coming out with ideas and trying to use as few bricks as possible.
I wanted to build a music band for this round, and because the roots of the contest are German, I decided to go with one of the most awesome bands ever - The Town Musicians of Bremen. All 4 members of the band are made with 47 pieces. The donkey can't stand by itself, because of the tilted head, but when the other animals are on his back, it has the perfect balance and the whole thing stands seamlessly.
You can join the contest in any round on Rogue Bricks Forum!

It was great fun again! Although there's a lot of fun events throughout the year, Rogue Olympics is probably my favourite build contest. There were quite a few new contributors this year with many beautiful entries and it’s always a joy to see the vastly different builds that people come up with for the often very broad topics. Big thanks to the organizers and all the other awesome contributors!
Unfortunately I didn't participate in every round. I just couldn't come up with something for week 6 and although I even finished my build for round 7 complete with ordered parts from BrickLink, I just couldn't get my photo idea to work out. I'm still satisfied with the entries I made, though, and afterall there's no pressure to participate every week.
Half of my builds were inspired by film and TV again. I really love the Sorcerer entry. Although it's probably less interesting technique-wise, I just feel a strong connection to it because of the film. I had it in the back of my head to build something for Sorcerer one day and I'm really satisfied with how the overall images turned out within the part limitation. From the more generic entries I really like how the rose garden turned out and maybe I can work Emily into next year's Rogue Olympics again, too. But it's also neat that I could get an Architecture model in for the last round. I'm probably least attached to the internet entry. Although I'm fine with how the build and photo worked out, I just don't feel a strong personal connection to it.
This is an abandoned build that I started for the RogueOlympic "Adventure" round. I was going to build a figure riding in it, but I already hit an 86 part count, and I couldn't come up with anything good at this scale using the 15 parts remaining... So instead, I guess I will say it was built for "April Tools" and call it a day.
Private Invstigator Clarence B. Driftwood was hired to bring back a runaway cat. Will it snap the bait?
My last minute entry into this year's "RogueOlympics" on www.roguebricks.de
101 parts allowed, I wasn't even close this time.
Another RogueOlympics entry, where the prompt was “Balance”. Which brought to mind the design principle of balance, with the simplest version being symmetrical balance. Cue a very fun day building this spaceship and playing with the color-scheme. Between it and the display stand, 100 elements were used.

As you may have already noticed, RogueBricks is currently running a fantastic contest again! It's called RogueOlympics and the task is to build something from 101 parts on a new theme every week over the next eight weeks.
In the first week there was no fixed theme, so you could build whatever you wanted. I tried my luck on an ornithopter, an airplane with flapping wings. Not too easy to get it to work with just 101 parts...
My build for round 7 of Rogue Olympics 2025 with the theme "Temperature".
I built the summertime tragedy of a chocolate-dipped ice cream bar popsicle falling on the sidewalk after only one bite—a cold treat melting on the hot ground.
(65 Parts)

"Avatar - The Last Airbinder" is my last entry for the RogueOlympics... Unfortunately the challenge ends in this round.

This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2024 Round 6, with the topic "Verstand / Mind". The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (which I used exactly).
I built someone dreaming up an entire world within his mind. It is in fact a direct homage to Martin Gebert and his wonderful Andarstrœm project.
This weeks entry for the 101 parts challenge 'RogueOlympics' on the German RLOC RogueBricks was "Big & Small" (Groß & Klein).
I decided to build a camera that captures big things and makes them smaller inside.
Of course, I had again built in a Little Robot: This time it's Noisy. He, too, is reflected in the lens in a scaled-down way. In his hand he holds a beige 2x2 Modulex Brick, which of course is also available larger from LEGO System.
I am happy that the printed Nintendo Sets tiles fits so well for the camera.
Final round in the Rogue Olympics 2021.
The theme is "Upside Down", a difficult one, but with a lot of potential.
In each round builders must use maximum of 101 parts to make their creations. This one is exactly 100.
My entry for the third round of Rogue Olympics 2024. This time topic is "Volume". I'd say the product the nice guy in the picture creates has approx. 45 % vol. - volume percent.
RogueOlympics at roguebricks.de: Every week we gotta build something with a new theme but with no more then 101 bricks. I thought, whatever the theme, I'll only do spaceships so here is my microscale hangar. Oh yes, this weeks theme was "big and small"
Jigokudani, meaning Hell Valley, is a confluence of volcanic hot springs and frigid winters in the mountains of Hokkaido, Japan. Since the 1960s, Japanese macaques have lived in the area of Jigokudani Monkey Park, bathing in man-made hot springs (onsen).
For the 7th round of RogueOlympics, for the theme temperature/Temperatur. More details and part breakdown on Roguebricks.
Built for RogueOlympics, Round 8. Topic: "Class".

That was the last round of the RogueOlympics 2025. I had a lot of fun participating again! Thanks to everyone for the great organization.
Feel free to check it out on Instagram too:
This is my entry for RogueOlympics 2022 Round 4, with the topic "Mut / Courage". The RogueOlympics are a build contest by the RogueBricks Community, with each week featuring a new topic and a part limit of just 101 pieces (I'm using 96).
I struggled a little with the topic and some ideas failed. I ultimately settled for a rather classic motif of courageously venturing into the unknown depths of a gloomy castle. It's probably somewhat looseley inspired by Ann Radcliffe's The Mysteries of Udolpho. The torches are lit by LEDs and the room behind the gate by a real candle, while the candle in Emily's hand was just enhanced a little in post-processing.
My entry for the 7th round (reaction) of the Rogue Olympics at Rogue Bricks. The only restriction is a max. amount of 101 parts. I used 88 parts for this build.
Hummingbirds are the only bird species capable of sustained backward flight, a unique adaptation enabled by their
versatile wing structure.

Hope you like it! ;)
Built for Round 7 of the RogueOlympics - the theme is "Reaction". - lest we forget that Rolli is a mouse, after all.
Uses 99 parts
