After a long day of ferrying guests on the Rivers of America, the Mark Twain settles in for a well deserved rest.

Disneyland, CA

I didn't get to spend very much time in the Magic Kingdom but I tried to make the most of it.

This is one of those shots that I find myself taking each time that we travel to Disney World. It has an old time feel to it, and I like the reflections on the water.

The Liberty Belle on the Rivers of America. There's a nice shaded spot with rocking chairs where the Mike Fink Keel Boat attraction used to be. A perfect spot to sit next to the water, relax, and take a few photographs.

Yet another Fireworks Friday shot from almost a year ago on a grad night. The bit of blue still remaining in the sky is due to the fact that they started the show at 8:45 PM. I think Grad Nights in June have the lightest skies of the year as the shows are so near to the Summer Solstice and they can't go later than 8:45. A word of advice if you hang around for the fireworks on one of these shorter evenings: You haven't SEEN gridlock until you get a good sized crowd in Disneyland all trying to leave at the same time with all of the shops CLOSED. Usually the crowd departure is staggered as guests leave over a four hour time period, but on Grad Nights, EVERYONE leaves at exactly the same time as the entire park shuts down promptly at 9 PM. It took me roughly about an hour to get out of the park and back up through Downtown Disney. Forget about the tram lines. So....If you are headed to the park on a Grad Night this year and you want to wait for the fireworks, expect one of the longest waits of the year getting out of the park.

Happy Fireworks Friday!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Still feeling very patriotic so it's another America inspired Disney shot for today.

Located on Tom Sawyer Island, this used to sell sandwiches, etc., back in the day. (We tried it in the late 80's early 90's). Now it's down to 2 vending machines selling Coke products and water. I didn't think that the ham & cheese sandwiches were that great, but if they sold good food, you'd think that they would make more money. Just a thought. :-)

I think one of the best places in the park early in the day is Frontierland. There are so many great reflections in the Rivers of America, and the ambient music always makes it feel like a lazy morning in the West. Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome!

On a clear night in Walt Disney World it can seem like you can see forever.

As we were heading out of the park I stopped and noticed how calm the water was and how clean the reflection was. No wind, no ducks, just mirror like surface. When you see that, you just have to stop and take a picture.

Diane and I spend every one of our Anniversaries in Disneyland. Ever since I caught the photography bug, our yearly "special" day in Disneyland consists of me running around with friends taking pictures while Diane sits abandoned in the background watching us all act like idiots.

This night was just like the others. Me, Bill, Kent and a few others camped out in New Orleans Square to shoot the fireworks and I ripped the leg right out of my tripod and broke it. Then we spent about an hour looking for, but not finding the missing piece.

Hopefully next year I'll be a little more considerate to the woman who puts up with me and takes such good care of me.

Having a bit of fun with a photo I took of the Mark Twain Riverboat.

Thanks to my daughter Marissa (MarissaSarre on Flickr) for the quick tutorial on Corel Paint Shop Pro! I'm learning!

Even though I do believe that this area of Tokyo Disneyland would be better served if they turned it into Cars Land, it would be a real pity to destroy such a peaceful and lovely area.

This is another shot taken with my infamous tour guide Gregg Cooper. Gregg met me over at Disneyland one evening and we went around for several hours on a photo tour of the park shooting from before sunset, through sunset and closing out the park. This was my last sunset shot of the evening as the sun soon disappeared behind the trees bringing grey hour upon us. Enjoy.

Usually light pollution is ugly and anything but creative. However, on rare occasion it can work to your advantage. I’ve been fighting for flickr time lately... hopefully will be back to posting with more regularity soon.

Thanks for looking!

With the coming of Star Wars Land, I fear we shan't be having any river excursions for some time. Here's to the beautiful Rivers of America!

I know I've posted this exact scene before but when you get a new camera and have nice clear skies with an open area to shoot from, sometimes you have to go back to the well just to see how your new toy will compare to the old one.

For the second year in a row, I was able to hang out with Mike and Diane at the Disneyland Halloween party last Friday, which is now a ticketed event each year. One of the cool effects that you will only find during Halloweentime is the fog which appears over the Rivers of America along with unique lighting out on the water and Tom Sawyer's Island. One of the other highlights would certainly be the performance of the "Cadaver Dans" who entertained the trick or treaters with Barbershop tunes as they stood in loooooooong lines for candy. I was hoping for a long exposure shot of blue hour but I was afraid of losing the last bit of light in the time it would take to set up my tripod, which turned out to be BROKEN as I went to set it up. :( So this was composed from a 5 shot handheld bracket with the Nikkor 14-24 instead. Yet another shot that I might have to try next year.

Continuing from the photo just prior to this one, the fireworks began early on 6/3/10 at 8:40, before all of the light had gone from the sky. These rare start times are limited to those days in which Disneyland closes early but still has a fireworks show. In this case, the sky was still a deep azure blue as the show began over the Mark Twain. This was shot in bulb mode at 6.3 seconds / f11.

The Mark Twain Riverboat on the Rivers of America in Disneyland. Another shot from my files. I can't wait to get back to Disney World in a few months.

Mark Twain Riverboat is an authentic paddlewheel riverboat built at a shipyard in San Pedro, California, specifically for Disneyland. Tour the Rivers of America with narration by a grizzled old river pilot with plenty of stories to tell. When Fantasmic! is running, it plays an important role in that show during the evening, but otherwise a nighttime ride can be a great cap to a day at Disneyland.

I admire Mickey so much. Not only does he defeat Maleficent, he's able to remain calm/completely OWN the fireworks going off behind him.

I'd be freaking out on top of a building if fireworks were going off behind me. But Mickey's just a boss.

Playing around with the Canon 16-35 F/2.8 lens and seeing what kind of lens flares it would produce.

What can I say, I have a thing for lens flare... I love to see what characteristics different lenses have when it comes to lens flare, so whenever I get a new lens I shoot into the sun at F/22 just to see what it will create.

I took this shot the night of the Disney 24 event at the Magic Kingdom just last Friday while waiting for the Main Street Electrical Parade to commence. If you've never attempted 24 hours in a Disney park, it's no easy feat.. but I survived. Barely.

Once the site is up and running, I definitely plan to write up a recap to go over the day and nights festivities as plenty of fun was had.

Thanks for stopping by!

When the sun dips below the horizon and the entire sky lights up as if it's been painted with red clouds. A spectacular sight to behold as you cruise the Rivers of America at the tip of the Mark Twain!

As for the shot, this is a handheld single shot processed with Camera Raw, CS6, and some Nik software. Please don't hesitate to tell me what you think, comments and constructive criticism are welcome and appreciated! :)
