LAFW - Style Fashion Week 2015 - DONNA MIZANI Collection
A rising star in women’s fashion design, Donna Mizani is renowned for her signature “cut-out” dress designs. A native New Yorker, now based in Los Angeles, Mizani’s design aesthetic is ultra-feminine and focuses on celebrating the female physique. Mizani’s muse, much like the entrepreneurial designer herself, is confident, sexy, alluring, daring and bold.
After graduating from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in downtown L.A., Mizani gained experience and knowledge working with other West Coast designers and procured her skills to execute her own vision. Donna Mizani debuted her first Ready-to-Wear Collection in 2009 with a unique and distinctive design esthetic. Through merging sensual Ready-To-Wear pieces with new-aged sophistication, Mizani established a supremely feminine and modern sensibility.
Mizani recognized her passion for design as a child. From a young age, Mizani was redesigning the clothes in her closet, sewing and creating all-new, trend-setting looks. “I have always found the female form to be remarkably beautiful, ever since taking my first life drawing class as a teenager. I was drawn to fashion design as it is my passion to create unique garments that enhance and flatter the female physique,” explains Mizani.
Since the first collection, Mizani has been dedicated to making clothes that are crafted beautifully, both inside and out. Enlisting her sister to help run the business, the two put their focus on quality craftsmanship. 100% of the Donna Mizani Collection is manufactured in downtown L.A.’s Garment District.

The Red Carpet
The evening will begin with a 1 hour red carpet event for our VIP guests to pose for photos with the press.This exclusive hour allows our VIP guests time to arrive early; have photo opportunities with the press; network with other VIPs; take a sneak peek behind-the-curtains and meet the designers, models, and stylists; enjoy some complimentary hors d’oeuvres; and get situated before the arrival of the general audience.
Fashion Show
The Rose Center in Westminster, CA will be transformed into a model’s dream runway showcasing almost 200 of the latest looks from 8 Vietnamese designers over a 2 day period. Vocal artists Andy Quach and Helena Ngoc Hong will be performing their latest hits.
After Party
Guests are invited to Bleu Lounge for the after party celebrating Viet Fashion Week’s kick-off. Guests will have the opportunity to take photos with the designers and models. Opportunity for networking and socializing to connect designers with buyers, editors, and others in the fashion industry.
International Exposure
Viet Fashion Week will be aired on Vietface TV – Direct TV channel 2076 nationwide and Vietface TV – OC channel 57.2 for Orange County in a series of episodes airing each week. The weekly series will showcase each designer and will include clips of the behind-the-scenes leading up to the main event, highlighting the models’ auditions, designer fittings, stylist consultations, dress rehearsal, VIP guests arriving on the red carpet, backstage preparations, post-mixer, and exclusive interviews with designers, models and sponsors.

LAFW - Style Fashion Week 2015 - Kaye Morales Collection
L.A. designer Kaye Morales debuted her Spring/Summer 2015 "Centepede" line to an eclectic downtown audience at The Reef for Style Fashion Week. As the lights of the tented venue dimmed, Morales, always daring to be different, revealed a short video showcasing a few of her models in her centepede designs.
As the heavy bass dropped, the first model strutted onto the long, white runway. Setting her apart from the wearable streetwear shows that preceded, Morales presented a line that included masks, straps and headpieces that were more like art than actual clothing. While some pieces were sheer and others lined, the collection had a costume-y feel that would appeal to only the most daring of fashionistas.
Red, black and white were the colors Morales used in her show. Each outfit was highly embroidered or bedazzled with silver and gold accents that gave the otherwise punk attire a soft and elegant feel.
Showing both men’s and women’s clothing, dresses and bodysuits were shown for women, while the men’s looks came in the form of suit jackets and pants or in one case, a crop top over matching fitted pants. The models wore their hair down and slicked-back with the men wearing their hair in a similar fashion.

In a small way, this interaction reinforces how a person can impact seemingly inaccessible systems to shape public space. With the proliferation of programmable LED-based general lighting, ambient effect lighting and display systems, more and more points of light can be recruited into responsive networks. What are the characteristics of such a lighting infrastructure? And how do we envision its future?

A dialogue session on “Gender-Responsive Journalism for Reporting on Gender-based Violence” was organized by UN Women in Cox’s Bazar with the participation of local journalists, change agents, guest from local women’s rights and gender equality organizations and representative from Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
