Curso de Mobile First & Responsive Design que aconteceu no dia 21/02/2014 no Impact Hub em Curitiba.

UNESCO, with the Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA), financial support from the Government of Japan, and in partnership with the Institut de la Francophonie pour l'Education et la Formation (IFEF), the International Center for Girls' and Women's Education in Africa of the African Union (AU/CIEFFA), the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) and Microsoft, is organizing a regional training of trainers for representatives from the Ministry of Education and teacher trainers on gender-responsive STEM education in order to engage, inspire and empower more girls and women to undertake STEM studies.
The training adopts a theory-to-practice approach, drawing on UNESCO’s Cracking the Code report, the US Mission to UNESCO’s TeachHer initiative, and other resources and programme experience. The modules explore the situation related to STEM education in Africa, gender-responsive STEM education, gender-responsive pedagogy, gender-responsive teaching resources, and ICT integration in STEM education. The methodologies employ a mixture of interactive pedagogy including guided group activities, role play, group-based problem-solving and field visits, to build on participants’ facilitation skills.
The training of trainers is currently taking place in Nairobi, Kenya (3-14 September 2018). The regional training will take place from 22-26 October with national teams of 6 to 8 people from 12 French-speaking African countries (Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Comores, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, and Senegal). PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - The 641st Regional Support Group, an Army Reserve logistics and transportation brigade based in St. Petersburg, Fla., conducted a Best Warrior Competition and Officer Challenge Jan. 24 at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.
Both competitions took place during the final full day of Operation Responsive Sentinel, a sustainment training and disaster relief field exercise comprising approximately 20 units and 900 Soldiers. Resolve Sentinel's operational and tactical missions at Port Canaveral, Patrick AFB and the Air Force's Malabar Transmitter Annex offered numerous opportunities for the troops to apply their military and civilian skills to plan, organize and execute objectives on land and sea.
The Best Warrior Competition featured six enlisted Soldiers representing several companies and battalions attached to the 641st RSG. The half-dozen men and women faced off in a various warrior-oriented tasks ranging from a written exam and sergeants major interview board to a ruck march and a rifle and pistol qualification round.
The top two competitors will represent the 641st RSG in the 143d Sustainment Command
(Expeditionary)'s Best Warrior Competition planned for March 9-13 at Camp Blanding, Fla.
While specialists and sergeants shot, sang, ran and marched their way to the finish line, scores of junior officers formed at Patrick AFB's Education and Training Center to test their strength, dexterity, memory and morale in the 641st RSG's officer challenge. Teams of five officers competed at six unique
stations spread along a six-mile route. The challenge began with map reading and rank recognition events, continued with casualty evacuation scenario and a ethical dilemma, and concluded with a physical challenge and rifle marksmanship.

One of the dominant characteristics of infrastructures is their invisibility. They usually only surface in moments of crisis to disrupt business-as-usual. A broken streetlight might obscure a crack in the pavement to trip an unsuspecting pedestrian walking home at night. For a brief moment, this incident causes the person to acknowledge her dependence on a network of streetlights that usually goes unnoticed. Tighter feedback loops between real-time data and urban infrastructures cause such moments to occur more frequently. Rather than needing a disruption, sensor-triggered lighting, for example, creates a direct link between a person’s presence and a change in the infrastructure’s state. In a small way, this interaction reinforces how a person can impact seemingly inaccessible systems to shape public space. With the proliferation of programmable LED-based general lighting, ambient effect lighting and display systems, more and more points of light can be recruited into responsive networks. What are the characteristics of such a lighting infrastructure? And how do we envision its future?

The DOT Urban Art Program partnered with the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) and Gabriela Galvan present "Aquatic Random" a site-responsive, abstract sculpture of St. George Ferry Terminal in Staten Island. The sculpture is composed of found boat parts used for navigation, such as steering wheels and buoys, highlighting the surrounding waterways and ferry terminal activity.
Throughout Galvan's work, the artist explores how sculpture relates to the ideas of time and transformation. Her site-specific work is informed by her surroundings as she observes everyday objects and materials. She creates work that generates dialogue among the art, site and spectators.
