Cars began as a self powered means of transportation to replace living creatures. They have evolved into works of art and status symbols. Is it any wonder we love them?

I scratched my LCD, so I bought a replacement over ebay, it came with this little screwdriver and a plastic prying tool to pop the components out.

I had a great painter who took the time getting my house ready to be painted. Of course, he started with a power wash that would remove any dirt, grime, mold, mildew, and old paint, ensuring a clean and dry underlying layer for the new paint to adhere properly.
My house does not have stucco. It has siding and will be 30 years old in four months, October 2025. Until now none of the siding had been replaced. Siding needs to be replaced when damaged or deteriorated due to rot, moisture, warping or structural weakness. This is a crucial step in preparing the house for painting, as any underlying issues can affect the durability and appearance of the new paint. Looking at my pictures you see that I did need some siding replaced.
Also important is the silicon caulking that he used to protect my house from the elements, to improve paint adhesion, and to create a smoother, more professional finish. Caulking seals gaps and cracks which prevents water from seeping into the walls and causing damage. It also fills uneven areas for a more uniform surface.
After removing any nails, he either caulked to seal the hole and prevent water damage or he used wood filler to fill the hole and create a smoother surface. Over the nail heads on the siding, he used caulk or filler to prevent rust, to seal the holes, and to ensure a smooth finish. Now you know why, for a day or two, my house looked like it had “chicken pox”!!!
He did two coats of paint. In the first, he used a combination of spraying and then immediately rolling-back with a roller, a painting technique used to achieve a smooth, uniform finish, especially on porous surfaces. Spraying provides quick and efficient coverage, while back-rolling enhances paint adhesion, ensures uniform application, and helps to smooth out any irregularities or imperfections. For the second coat he paint sprayed again.
AND NOW THE COLOR
Wow, I will say that I was overwhelmed when I first saw the paint on my house, especially the darker color. I was a bit taken aback. It is difficult to see a paint chip and then visualize the color on the house. Because if this, I bought small cans of paint and painted swatches that I adhered to the house. I then painted a larger amount on the back of a placemat and looked at that for a while in order to be sure of my choices. I even had a rendering done, and it looked good, so with that I went ahead with my color choices: Dunn Edwards, Silver Bullet and Eventide.
I do like it now, but I was a bit shocked at first. To be sure it was painted the correct color, I placed the paint swatches and the placemat that I had painted months ago on the newly painted house . . . and the color is an exact match. The difference is that I purchased flat paint rather than paint with sheen, like the semi-gloss on my house. Paint with sheen appears brighter in sunlight because it reflects more light. Wow, when the afternoon sun hits my house the grayish-purple paint (Eventide) on the front door, garage door, and façade above the garage is VERY bright and looks more purple. It’s more muted and looks grayer in the morning when the sun doesn’t hit the house. I sure hope my neighbors are not unhappy with the color combination. It is different.
Now that I have a new roof, new fascia, new flashing, new gutters, new paint colors, and new awnings on the way, I guess I better look into new HVAC. Mine will be 30 years old in four months!!!

20 members of the local climate group BREEZE joined with the Climate Action Centre in a Replace Hazelwood Protest today in the regional town of Ballarat.
Premier John Brumby was forced to stop his car and get out and talk to the protest as he tried to enter the Mercure Hotel, where he was due to make a further regional policy announcement.
Getting there. Few more supports to put up, some 'old house' nuances, and then the decking goes on.
Just being able to enter the house through the back entry has been a great thing lately.
Looks like I've taken my right leg off.
We obtained the building permit and handled all inspections. We obtained approval from the Homeowner's Association to proceed with the work. We saw cut and removed the existing driveway which was cracked and deteriorated. We removed all debris from the premises. We fully compacted all soil. We poured the new driveway with 4000 PSI concrete with fiber mesh reinforcement. We hand troweled the concrete with a double boom finish. We cut all expansion joints accordingly.

The cabin deck is over 40 years old, the whole thing needs to go, but we can't do that at the moment, instead we spent a couple of afternoons over Easter replacing the worst of the worst of the rotten boards, all told just about 200 linear feet. We were proud of doing this on our own having never done this kind of thing before, and a great place to start/learn because it is temporary until the whole deck can be R&R'd. Maybe we'll build that too - I ain't scared.
Built in 1808, this Ottoman-era mosque replaced an earlier mosque on the same site, constructed in 1522-1523 after the conquest of the island of Rhodes by the Ottoman empire. The building features a stucco-clad exterior with arched bays, a domed roof, a stone minaret with two balconies and a finial, a porch with an inner domed portion with vaulted ceilings and arched openings atop stone piers and an outer section with a hipped red terra cotta tile roof with wooden columns and exposed rafter tails, and a courtyard to the north of the building that is home to a domed pavilion housing a Shadirvan, or ablution fountain. The building served as a mosque until the 20th Century, and has been restored as a museum. The building is part of the Old Town of Rhodes, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
