The homeowner wanted to replace these concrete driveway with the traditional concrete driveway that would outlast the previous. Our crew went to work demolishing the previous driveway which took altogether about one day to complete. In this project we also replace the front sidewalk and front stoop.

The Replacements - joined by Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day - rocked the final day of the Forecastle Music Festival in Louisville, Ky.
Replacement of the overhead wiring and structures as part of the High Capacity Trains Project which is running in parallel to level crossing removal works on the Pakenham/Cranbourne line corridor.
The original lattice structures date back to the 1500V DC electrification of the line which was completed to Oakleigh in March 1922 and Dandenong in December of the same year. Although Dandenong was the limit of electrification most trains terminated at Oakleigh originally as it remained the limit of suburban expansion until the post-war years. As such the station had three platforms and a substantial yard was once located here.
With most trains now passing through the sidings gradually became redundant with the last of these removed as part of the current works and the station reduced to two platforms. The ageing overhead structures were placed at spacings up to 100 yards (91 metres) with the new ones much closer at around 60 metres on straight track.

We used closed valleys, which means one whole face gets shingled and overlaps the valley by at least 12 inches. Then we made a snap-line 2 inches from the center of the valley. We'll trim the shingles along this line as we work the second face.

In response to questions regarding my heart surgeries here are a couple of pics showing what was installed in the latest one (2010). This pic shows on the left how a typical heart might look. On the right is a diagram showing the type of graft that I have in place. It replaces the original from the root to the top of the arch. Mine however had to be done in a double layer as I wouldn't stop 'leaking' (as Dr. David put it!) and the second layer was necessary.

After two children had a "disagreement" involving a plastic mallet from the game "Don't Break the Ice", one of the mallets was broken, and I was tasked with making a replacement. The one on the left is made from birch dowels. The mallet on the right is made from cherry sticks I carved (and pounded through a dowel plate).

With nothing better to do, I headed over to Woking to see what was on rail replacement today (Sat 28/12/2024). New operator Chaseside turned up with one their smart-liveried E400 deckers, Fairmanns Travel had their recently repainted Dart/Pointer out, TK Travel showed off their recent rebrand livery, and a cheerful yellow decker of Chilternbus brightened up a rather dull day. Oh, and a bonus on the short walk to Spoons for a much needed coffee - a Safeguard Tempo!! Not a bad day in the end.
