I like this headsculpt. It makes an interesting change from the usual grizzled veterans and movie idol sculpts that get produced in 1/6. It's perfect for a kid that's just been drafted.

With all of the deck units now connected to the central pylon, at the time of this photograph, this was the longest free standing cantilever on the world.

I received my HL-N holga lens for my Nikon DSLR today, and these are experiments taken with it. I also added on the holga fisheye lens to get a wider angle.

These were shot with 400 ISO and the shutter speed around 100. I discovered it needs to be really bright, otherwise the photos are really dark.

I was a little disappointed because I wanted them to look more like what I get form my actual holga, with distortions & vignetting. Some of the photos look like normal digital shots.

The camera on the left is an Olympus C4000...the first digicam I ever owned, purchased back in 2004. After I moved on into DSLR's, my wife used the camera for several years.

As you can see by the lens, it's attempt at becoming a LensBaby was less than successful! The mechanism self destructed so a new cam for the spouse was in order.

I chose the Canon G11 after some research as I had not really kept up with the P&S market. This G11 is a sweet little camera and of course it's light years ahead in technology to the C4000.

The G11 actually cost less than the C4000 did in 2004.

So after the first few comments on the portrait I originally uploaded as my Day 43, I decided to switch to this portrait. I was unsure from the start, but the comment from Sashala convinced me...the hair on the left was too distracting. :D

Mom finally made me a new blanket to replace the old one, which was threatening to finally tear into two pieces from all of my dragging it around everywhere.

This is my new gear that replaces the gear I lost. Both the camera and lens are upgrades from what's gone so in that respect I did well. The camera feels quite different, button wise and smells like a new car. The view finder seems amazingly clear and crisp so I think there has been a few changes there, not that the old one was particularly unclear. The video feature this new version has is a bit fiddly focus wise but then I doubt I'll use that much. I'm not so keen on the feel of the new selector button as it's not so sensitive but that will probably be a good thing once I get used to it as before the focus selector would jump around as my nose sometimes pressed against this selector switch (I use my left eye in the viewfinder). That shouldn't happen now.

one little thing they have done at long last is to include a hot shoe protector with this camera. I had to buy one as an optional extra on the D300 and the cheapest I could get it was £5 on e-bay. Some places wanted £8 for that silly piece of plastic.

Anyway, enough talking about it. I need to find a gap in the weather and use it.

We used closed valleys, which means one whole face gets shingled and overlaps the valley by at least 12 inches. Then we made a snap-line 2 inches from the center of the valley. We'll trim the shingles along this line as we work the second face.

It's not everyday you get a Leyland Tiger turn up on rail replacement. Ex Hedingham GVS 948Y is seen here loading up at Southwick station this morning. Train services had been badly disrupted due to a fatality at Southwick.

flatted out on the way to work. no issues getting off of the road safely in AM rush hour traffic. Tow truck never showed up. After 2 hours of holding the bike up, I called Biker Bill and he came with his trailer.

Check out the nubs. Looking forward to knocking them off ASAP. Need to break it in before pushing too hard...

From what I gathered, this model was responsible for the genocide of the steam locos back in '55.

I spotted this little lady in the thrift store a couple of weeks ago, and bought her for that dress. I thought I might be able to modify it to look a little more Elizabethan if not medieval. After a closer look at the skirt design, I realized that it would be more trouble to modify than it's worth. But then I realized that the new blonde lady could easily be transformed into a more suitable Queen Araxie than the one I've currently got. I have never managed to get Araxie's eye repaint to look right, but this doll's eye color could easily be painted over with a light gray, and unlike the original Araxie head, there aren't thick layers of modern-looking "glam" makeup that have to be wiped away (along with the original eye paint), so it would be a much easier makeover. The burgundy lips won't be a problem to change. I can either paint over them with a paler pink color like I did for Helena (who also started out with lips this dark), or even wipe the original paint off and paint the lips back on with a softer shade of rose. Lips are much easier to recreate from scratch than eyes. So I may try a makeover on her this weekend and see if she comes closer to my vision of Araxie. Hopefully Kelson will be pleased with his wife's new look.

Manchester United Methodist Church was looking for a replacement window after the old wood windows deteriorated for the past decade. Glass block was the perfect choice to withstand the elements of an Ohio winter. The church wanted to find a window that was durable but also spectacular and the colored block in the shape of a cross achieved the church's goal. Glass Block of America was able to remove the wood sills and replace with a new sandstone sill.

first roll from my isoly junior. It didn't wind the film tightly, plus light leaked in through the counter window. I didn't think to block that because when in it's case, the case covers it.
