The drilling unit will be used to drill relief wells in order to stop the flow of oil emanating from the wellhead if efforts to secure the blow off preventor are unsuccessful.

Tell your Senators that “drill, baby, drill” and business as usual have to end and that there’s no place in the current climate bill for industry giveaways and dirty energy.

Someone just broken the Z-axis handle on E-mill lathe, so I made the replacement. Unfortunately, there was no 3/8-16x5" socket head bolts, but regular hex head will work too. Handle is free-rotating, and it's pretty comfortable to hold it.

I picked up a $15 iRobot replacement for our old vacuum off of ebay.

As soon as I swapped the dead battery it came with for one of my own

lithium repacks it started going. Now I'll sell the accessories it

came with and my old dead unit off which should easily pay for the

replacement.

On Monday 6th January, my current recycling truck (YRO) has broken down. On that same Monday, they had a Dennis Olympus and I believe the same truck on Tuesday but on Wednesday this one came to my house. This is one of the first Geesinks Veolia bought for the Brent Contract and they are pretty loud, I must admit. (I was in my room and heard it very well with the TV on) Anyway, this truck is called BCY and it belongs to the GPM 2 Geesink BC fleet. In actual fact, all the white paper you can see on the spill shield, is what my bins were filled with (shreeded docs). Most of it fell in the hopper but some went flying out and some, as you can see, made its home on the spill shield.

The locals apparently missed it (the last one lasted a couple of years I think) so I made them a replacement.

A turned-pin type this time.

For about 40 years on, it was doing pretty good. But, out with old in with the new tankless.

My old pond liner failed and as this is the second time in 10 years I've had to replace the liner I've decided to use a smaller heavy duty fibreglass pond given to me some months ago to replace it .

The first liner I bought was cheap and so I wasn't too upset when it failed but the second one was fairly expensive and had a 30 year guarantee. It lasted 6 years and of course I've lost the receipt/guarantee!

It took me a further 3 hours to finish it today after spending 2.5 hours on it yesterday .I needed perhaps 20-25 wheel barrow loads of soil to fill up the hole left by the bigger pond .

The new pond is much smaller than the old pond and I'm sad about that. I doubt I'll stick with this small size but it will have to do for now .

I suspect at some point in the future I will buy a much larger fibre glass pond and put it back to the size it was.

Also the design of the fibreglass lip of the pond is not conducive to covering it with stones as the stones I have are not big enough.Nor is there a gentle slope out of the pond where birds could bathe and creatures easily climb out.

Overall I'm not very pleased with this new pond! :^(

With my old pond where the flexible liner followed the shape of the hole I'd dug the lip of the pond was designed so the stones would sit in 2 inches of water so the pond liner was completely hidden( once again a business opportunity to produce a commercial one that does this)

I'm going to look into building my own fibre glass pond. I've done some initial costing and I suspect it would be a fair bit cheaper than buying one in but a great deal of work . If I do this I can then design in all the features I want

I need to add lots of new plants to fill in the gaps because this new pond's surface area is perhaps 50% of the one it replaced .

I will leave it until the tadpoles have left next year in July/August before i touch the pond again.

Maybe I'll get used to it but as my mate Ben says about anything not super sized . "It's a runt"

Progress on Trex deck replacement.

Replacement of the overhead wiring and structures as part of the High Capacity Trains Project which is running in parallel to level crossing removal works on the Pakenham/Cranbourne line corridor.

The original lattice structures date back to the 1500V DC electrification of the lines which were completed to Oakleigh in March 1922, Mordialloc by June, Frankston by August, and Dandenong in December of the same year, with Frankston completed by August. Although Dandenong and Frankston were the limits of electrification most trains terminated at Oakleigh and Mordialloc originally as they remained the limits of suburban expansion until the post-war years.

In the lead up to the electrification project a large scale project was undertaken between Caulfield and South Yarra lowering the rail lines to remove numerous level crossings and expanding from two to four tracks and rebuilding stations at Malvern, Armadale, Toorak and Hawksburn. The station buildings were to a common design and were completed in 1914 with the quadruplication work coming into service in October 1915.

The overhead wiring was replaced as part of a suburban upgrade in the late 1980's using the original structures which were up to 100 yards apart. Note the old lattice portal structures across four tracks are generally being replaced with pairs of two track cantilever structures at closer spacings - around 60 metres.

It was 10:30pm, a couple nights after I put up my big response to the ransom note. Someone knocked on our door, and I had no idea who it was! Scary at this time of night with in my neighborhood, where my door has been kicked in before. I demanded my sister's boyfriend go answer the door for me, but it turned out to be a neighbor from down the street.

He came bearing gifts of Unicorn!!! His name was Josh, and he said he was sad that our unicorn was stolen, so he made us a new one. He apologized for the frame, he said it was the best one he could get, to which I said NO PROBLEM! You didn't have to make this! I proceeded to show him how the unicorn would go will with my cutesy-rainbow tchotchkes in my bedroom, complete with carebears and brightly colored salt cupcake salt shakers.

It appears to be color pencil, and it's awfully cute! Of course, this is nothing like the original, and its smaller, so it doesn't really make sense where the old one was. (Plus I don't want another unicorn stolen....). I still mourn my old unicorn, but it's nice to see some of the goodwill of the neighborhood!
