Scarborough bridge, just outside York station, carries the York to Scarborough railway line across the river Ouse.
The original bridge dated from 1845 and was rebuilt in 1875. The 140-year-old iron structure is being completely replaced in a complex operation by Network Rail, working 24 hours a day from 14 to 22 February. The replacement sections have been installed using a huge crane in Marygate car park, behind the riverside houses.
Work in progress on the bridge.

Replacing the tail light on my 2012 Mazda 3. For someone with no demonstrable mechanical skills, it was a modest achievement... particularly since the replacement part didn't come with instructions. Finding my way into the backside of the trunk was quite an adventure (and I cracked one of the plastic tacks before figuring out how they worked).
On Day 4 of my All-Line Railrover travels I intended to travel from Cheltenham to Cardiff to travel on a couple of South Wales lines not previously visited, but only discovered, early on Saturday 20 May, that every train through Cheltenham was a bus that day! This was due to a total engineering possession through Cheltenham station for track relaying (see below). So I had to get the 07.40 Cheltenham-Gloucester bus replacement, photographed here outside Gloucester station. This left Cheltenham dead on time and got me to Gloucester very quickly, and in plenty of time for my train to Cardiff.

Basically says all you need to right there. Loki came with a crappy fiberglass hood meant for drag racing. It was noisy and warped.

skeleton in the garden, slightly tangled in the clothes line. Three weeks post-op and it's still holding up despite punishment on hills. Certainly smoother operation than the old crusty bone grind. Guess titanium and ceramics are a bit harder than bone with a poly lubricant spacer layer to help. Seven weeks and it does multi km on a bike.

Geoff’s Check-up at 18 Months After a Double Knee Replacement
Geoff had a double knee replacement in October 2014 and at around 18 months post the operation had an appointment with Dr. Coffey to check on his progress. After the surgery the pain in his knees gradually abated and at 12 months his recovery was complete.
Dr. Coffey asks how he felt about having a double knee replacement before he had it. Geoff says from the stories he’d heard from other people he’d expected it to be worse.
After their preliminary discussion Dr. Coffey asks Geoff to hop up onto the examination table and to bend his knees. Before the operation Geoff couldn’t straighten his knees. Both knees stopped short of full extension by 100 to 15° and he could only bend them back 95°.
Dr Coffey measures Geoff’s flexibility to find he can now bend his knees from 00, (an extra 10'451, to 105’, (an extra 10°).
