The end result of rendering some lard.
Take some chunks of pork fat (back fat is fine, any internal fat is allegedly better), say 5 or 10 lbs, put it in a large pot with some water in the bottom (2 or 3 cups, kind of depends on diameter of pot) and cook on medium-ish for a couple hours. Stir it sometimes.
Then strain out the chunks of fat, which ideally will be crispy and brown. Pour the liquid into jars or whatever to cool.
It is somewhat smelly, so I'd do it outside if possible.

So where was Betty Lou during all of the commotion at the air base?
Always one to explore different fashions, our favorite teenager went into a clothing store.
She was surprised when the sales staff started speaking to her in French. After a few minutes, Betty Lou found out that she was thought to be a daughter of one of the French colonial plantation owners (who had been recently driven out of the country).
At this time, there were a few military advisors working with the ARVN (Army of the Republic of Viet Nam). Not a lot of Americans in the country.
Betty Lou purchased a áo dài, the traditional dress of Vietnam. With her long dark hair, she looked like a (tall) native.
I like 3D photorealistic renderings in 3D stereoscopic pictures!
This one is just a small test to check the stereo vision errors introduced by a global illumination algorithm. It statistically projects a large amount ( but not every possible) amount of rays of light in the room, yet the pseudo-random distribution of rays in the scene may change from rendering to rendering, so it could possibly introduce errors for us stereographers.
the result of this test is that the errors rate can be kept low, and the stereo pair looks fine!

This is, or rather was, the storage tank for the solar thermal hot water system. It's about 8 feet tall and 4 feet in diameter. It was used to feed pre-heated water into the hydronic baseboard heating system's boiler. A few years ago it rusted out, rendering the system defunct. Since the outbuilding that houses these systems was basically built over the tank, there's no way to get it out without removing the roof or bringing in a cutting torch. The replacement tank would have to be built in place or lowered in while the roof was off. Hopefully the replacement tank would also be somewhat better insulated.
