This was a self-portrait of Koko and I on the 4th of July. We were at Devil's Punchbowl in California. Our family went to take our remote controlled rock crawlers through the trails. We had a great day!

If you thought I was old but somehow don't look it, then I have picnik to thank for that! (Duh, of course this is edited . . . muahahaha, no one can ever see the real me! = D

This week's assignment for Macro Mondays is "technology". Just last night we have met André Kuipers (our fellow-villager), an astronaut who was in space twice (in 2004 and 2012 in ISS (International Space Station) and who told us so much about space technology. The technical possibilities in our time go beyond our imagination. And as much I would have liked to take pictures of space technology, this is of course not possible. However, what you see in the picture is a remote control with lots of buttons I still do not know the purpose of (for instance "Pure A"). To much technology for me.... HMM!

also, because you may have just found the most awesome apartment ever, and you're on the way to fill out the application. (it's in Bay Ridge; Gleek and i could be neighbors!)

The reflections of cypress trees in the fall surround a boat that has floated away from the dock (but can be retrieved with remote control).

Argiope aurantia, the Black & Yellow Garden Spider, sharing her web with a tiny companion—top center at the intersection of the grey & green stems. Hoping for guidance from the Arachnophiles on that one.

The web is a few feet above White Lake, in Cullinan Park, Sugar Land, TX. I took the shot with a Leica on a monopod extended well off the boardwalk, controlled by an iPhone. Got the monopod yesterday and the idea this morning. First shot I’ve posted with remote control. 132mm focal length is 360mm equivalent,

One of two KCS's SD40Bs, 913, is tied down and wheel chocked at Knoche Yard in Kansas City, MO. It has a couple of notable differences since I photographed it one year prior before this photo. Right side of nose in front of cab is gated or fenced off, and a chair positioned on the front porch where it can be controlled remotely by the operator. Photo taken 05-12-15.

Working second of a three engine consist, GTW 5953 is a rebuilt EMD SD40-3 at Canadian National Harrison Yard in Memphis, Tennessee.

The day today seemed, to me, to be utterly perfect. Low(er) humidity, fabulous skies, lots of sunshine. I kept talking about how gorgeous it was, though lots of people were like "um, really? i'm dying it's so hot." I can't tell if it was just i woke up in a shining mood or if the weather was really nice.

But this picture totally captures how it felt to me today!

Another year of self-portraits comes to a close. Not a single day missed this year (in fact, in 3 years of SPs, I've only missed 1 day). That's 1096 (1095) days of self-portraits.

I truly love this project, and all the friends I've met and the places I've been able to document. But I think this will be the end of 365 for me. Self-portraits, at least. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

xoxo,

Minty

for FGR today.

We spent the last September weekend at Balls 29, a big experimental rocket launch event in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada - the same place where Burning Man takes place. A big rocket is launched every few minutes.

This group carries a rocket glider to the launch area. A rocket glider takes off vertically, powered by a rocket motor, then glides back down slowly under remote control.

I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I was shooting an airshow today and this happened. Fortunately the planes are remote control.

The pilots were standing on terra firma when the planes collided, and nobody was hurt.

I have to come up with a 'Pet Hate' photo for May (nothing like the last minute eh?). So here is something that gets to me... what is it about men and the tv remote? They always have to have it next to them. They reach out and touch it from time to time just to make sure it is still there! If you need to find the remote ladies, then just check where the man in your life was last sitting or look on their side of the bed! Lucky me, I live with four men!!! In fact when I was discussing my plans for this shot they did ask me to use an old remote! I could go on about their choice of TV programmes too. It seems to be wall to wall Top Gear and motorsport in our house (with a brief respite provided by cricket). Then there are the joys of the World Cup to come soon! Why are there no programmes about photography? However, what I have come to realise is that my real pet hate is processing. I really need to go on a course as I found it so difficult to learn how to add text to this image. I really wanted to get a font that looked like the one used on Yorkie bars but hey ho!

OK rant over - promise!

Yes, the smoke is real, no manipulation was done to it.

A hotel room with one major benefit. It's at the back of the hotel and quiet. This lets you listen to the music in your head:

I keep hearin' you're concerned about my happiness.

All that thought you're giving me is conscience, I guess.

If I were walking in your shoes, I wouldn't worry none.

While you and your friends are worrying bout' me,

I'm having lots of fun.

Countin' flowers on the wall,

That don't bother me at all.

Playing Solitaire till dawn,

With a deck of fifty-one.

Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo.

Now, don't tell me I've nothing to do.

Last night I dressed in tails, pretended I was on the town.

As long as I can dream, it's hard to slow this swinger down.

So please don't give a thought to me, I'm really doing fine.

You can always find me here, having quite a time.

Countin' flowers on the wall,

That don't bother me at all.

Playing Solitaire till dawn,

With a deck of fifty-one.

Smoking cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo.

Now, don't tell me I've nothing to do.

Well, it's good to see you, I must go, I know I look a fright.

Anyway my eyes are not accustomed to this light.

And my shoes are not accustomed to this hard concrete.

So I must go back to my room and make my day complete.
