Col. Nicholas Feranec and Chief Master Sgt. Alan Weary joined Massachusetts Gold Star Family members, Massachusetts Nation Guard Soldiers and Airmen, and state and local leaders in honoring and remembering fallen Mass. service members during a Memorial Day Flag Garden event on the Boston Common, May 25. Three hundred and ninety-seven American flags representing the local service members lost since September 11, 2001, joined the over 37,000 flags representing Mass. service members who fell serving the nation beginning with the Revolutionary War. Taken at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. The memorial is an incredibly sad and moving place. The colonial context of the genocide is explained followed by information on how and why it occurred in 1994. Personal stories and photographs of those affected can be found in other displays that really hit home the far reaching loss this terrible tragedy had in Rwanda.

Remember whose your are and whom you serve. Your mind will no longer be starved, but will be quick and enthusiastic, and your hope will be inexpressibly bright.

Personal memories can now be digitized, bought, sold and traded. The last remnants of privacy and intimacy have been swept away in what appears to be a logical progression of the explosive growth of social networks at the beginning of the 21st century. The citizens themselves have accepted this surveillance society in exchange for the comfort only smart technology can provide. This memory economy gives immense power over society to just a handful of people.
Just remembering 7 years ago this past weekend when my sweet husband proposed.
Also, DPS Assignment: Negative Space.
"I'm gonna swim with you. I'm gonna be your best friend!"
Remember when we met? We were both 11. We were on the same traveling basketball team, and one day started chasing each other around a giant pole in Monticello - just like in this picture. We've been best friends ever since! Love you Ozzy Milo!

This rottie belonged to a close friend of mine, she had to be put down FAR too young due to a degenerative back issue. Loved this gal.

Back in the day I probably used at least as many film canisters as are in this basket under a Christmas tree that is part of the Festival of Trees of the Indiana Historical Museum. The tree was sponsored by Roberts Camera in Indianapolis. It was my favorite tree in the exhibit.
Veterans Day is 11-11 so please take a moment to remember the sacrifices our troops make to keep us free. Don't just remember on Veterans Day but remember every day of the year. This photo was taken at the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, Normandy, France when I visited this past August.
If you're traveling in the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was the true love of mine.
If you go when the snowflakes storm
When the rivers freeze and summer ends
Please see if she's a coat so warm
To keep her from the howlin' winds.
Please see if her hair hangs long
If it rolls and flows all down her breast
Please see from me if her hair hangs long
That's the way I remember her best.
I'm a-wonderin' if she remember me at all
Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night
In the brightness of my day.
So if you're travelin' in the north country fair
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine.
