the ride from osaka, where the kansai airpot is to kobe was quite long, almost an hour. i had time to play around with my peleng russian fisheye lens. it is 8 mm and fully manual. i get a circular image on the 5D, then i just cropped off the extra black circular vignette.
i am off to paris tomorrow! i think i will bring the fisheye. i might get some pretty interesting shots with this lens.
Found this colored stream at National Park the Slufter at Texel. My guess is that there is some sort of metal in the ground and water that corrodes, which gives this red color on the bottom of the stream. The sand of course has a warm tint of its own. I turned the polariser half way, so the left side of the frame shows some relfections of the blue sky, and therefor provides a bit more contrast and makes it (what I believe is) an interesting color palette. Like an aquarelle painting!
Thanks for having a look! All faves and comments are highly appreciated!
Prince of Wales Dock
The Swansea Harbour Trust began constructing the Prince of Wales Dock in 1879 on Fabian's Bay to the east of the River Tawe. When construction was completed, the Prince of Wales dock was opened on 18 October 1881 by Edward, Prince of Wales, and extended in 1898 to its present size of 27 acres.
A very very very cliched shot but the conditions were too good not to take it!

Blue ice, green reflection.
A beautiful blue iceberg on a rainy day, floats on an unworldly green reflection in the plankton-filled water near Jorge Montt Glacier, Patagonia. Several waterfalls stream down the misty hills in the background.

Park Adama Mickiewicza
An alternate view of the Opera House here in Poznan taken from the pool in the park. Lovely place and I am waiting for the chance to attend one of the luxurious Operas that frequent here. Perhaps this fall...

A fantastic sunset in Engadin some weeks ago.
"You are magnificent - a jewel reflecting inwardly and outwardly, the light of the universe.
Observe how you respond to beauty everywhere - you bear witness to everything.
Be aware that you, yourself, are an inextricable part of the infinite creative intelligence, and be blessed."
~Jay Woodman
Beneath the glow of a beautiful sunset, a lone fisherman reels his line back in after casting bait into the mighty Mississippi River. This was photo was taken at a small roadside park just north of Hamilton, Illinois at sunset.

Mariacka Street
Me and the cat admiring the beauty of this street...and before the crowds arrive. Here is where you can find all kinds of amber and shiny trinkets. A little early for that, but I like the quiet.

The stillness of the water, the golden sunrise, and the peaceful embrace of Bali’s shores—reminding me that every morning is a fresh start, a chance to dream bigger, and a moment to truly breathe in life’s beauty! Enjoy, Mario
the washington zoo was a kind of disappointment as a lot of the animals were nowhere to be seen! i guess it was bad timing to come in the early afternoon as they all seemed to be taking their nap! lol!
found these two sea lions, though, looking sweet taking a nap together!
my day is just starting....have a great one everyone!

Small ornaments for a Christmas tree, a drum and a golden saxophone with a plastic musical sheet as background. This is the time for Christmas ornaments and decorations, love this season! 🎄 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment, very much appreciated!
What to do on a cloudless day with hard sunlight and not much of an atmosphere? Try to create a moody black and white image with available conditions. This is one from Wharariki Beach at the top of the south island in New Zealand.

The iconic slope and jagged eastern end of Mount Rundle in Banff. Colourful morning skies surround, reflected in the Vermillion Lakes
The sun had set this evening, leaving a golden sky and reflections on the North Platte River in Casper, Wyoming (7-29-2022). I had just returned from a very remote drilling rig move between Craig and Meeker, Colorado and after picking swapping the big truck for my personal vehicle, I noticed beautiful lighting and details in a thunderstorm brewing far to the east of Casper. Alas, I did NOT have the camera with me (I broke Rule #1 pffft lol) and by the time I collected it, I was left only with a mental memory (and another note to self!). The sunset and calm relfections made for a nice trade-off, though.
You never know where it will show up.
Wishing all a happy holiday season and a world full of kindness.

New Hampshire, 1982. The food was holistic for the times. Great cider.

In the 18th and early 19th centuries, shipyards and port businesses operated here. In 1844, the first gasworks in Hamburg were built on the northern part of the island.
In a narrower sense, HafenCity Hamburg is a project of urban regeneration where the "Grosser Grasbrook" area of the former Hamburg free port is being revitalised with new hotels, shops, office buildings, and residential areas. The project is considered the largest urban redevelopment project in Europe by landmass (approximately 2.2 square kilometres).
Out on a hike with my family we stumbled across this pond off to the side of Thetis Lake, the sun was just going down and the relfections were awesome. I was able to snap a perfect reflection before we started throwing rocks into the pond and making it all ripply.
This image was taken on a cold damp & misty morning & I wanted to convey the simplicity of one tree and it's reflection in the river. A deep orange colour was added along with grain, then softened.
as another day ends in our part of the world sun is rising in another place. hope that your day will be as wonderful as ours...

too little time to flicker tonight my friends, will have to catch up tomorrow. good night!!!
Just a repost of one of my relfection picture taken in 2013 trip to Merritt.
Wish you a good day!
I love reflection even when there is not really mirror-like scene appearing on the reflecting surface.
This is one reflection I saw last year in Merritt BC
Wish all of you a great day!
Sometimes the most interesting scene and story are happening outside the frame of a picture.
On the lake side, there are 16 photographers pointing 16 cameras and lenses towards the same fishing boat (may be more than 16 since someone has more than one camera). The photographers have 200mm, 300mm, 400mm or even longer lenses. I am also one of the group. My lens is one of the shortest focal length which is 200mm. So I have to wait until the boat getting closer.
All the photographers are praying at the same time and wish the boat goes near the reflection in the lake. The fishing guys seem to hear our prayers and they did so. So the photographers are firing like the soldiers seeing their enemy in the battle field.
As I am one of the group and therefore I am not able to record this spectacular scene showing all the long guns and tripods.
I joined my photo club friends in a trip to Merritt shooting fall scenes in the past Thanksgiving weekend.
I hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving weekend too!
人生在世不稱意,明朝散髮弄扁舟。 - 〈宣州謝朓樓餞別校書叔雲〉李白
This photo was taken close to the southern end of Schwatka Lake in Whitehorse. It was a pretty still day, but I worked to emphasize this by shooting with a ten stop neutral density filter and a long exposure. I shot three images with the focus point moved closer to infinity with each successive shot. These images were then stacked in Photoshop in order to maximize focus from near to far. I also employed a circular polarizing filter to lesssen relfections closer to the camera. The result is an image that respects the moment. This is what I saw from the beautiful clear water up close to the reflected mountain in the distance. I hope you like it.
