Thanks everyone!

I mentioned last week that I was going to start my own little Wizarding Wednesdays thing (so creative of me), as I typically have a hard time finding when to post my Universal shots. Well, it turned out to be quite a good thing (37,000 views, what!?), and so here's a shot looking in the other direction that hopefully gains the same sort of love.

It is incredible what nature can sometimes produce, just like these strange and alien looking clouds over the south coast of Western Australia. This photo comes from the Elephant Cove near the town of Denmark and was taken on a stormy evening in early spring this year.

My wife has taken me on a driving holiday for my birthday to take some photos around this wonderful country of Australia.

Day 1 - what better way to spend your birthday than to get up at 3am, carry 3 sleeping kids into the car and drive for 8 hours. It's all good : )

Whilst driving from Sydney to Echuca, Lake Mulwala is located on the Murray River that divides NSW from Victoria. This is quite an amazing sight...the water level has obviously dropped significantly from yesteryear (I cropped a lot of the weeds out) & also check out the number of dead trees in this lake from when the dam was built across the river [Doh...left on Auto ISO hence the grainer 400 when you go large or original]

Strange day. Caught a little cold and had to leave work early. At the same time I needed to get a shot for my daily 365 and was a bit out of my head to get one. Low and behold as I turned the corner to grab the tram this lovely vision presented itself. I thought maybe my fever was up...but no, just a really cool umbrella, reflection and a sun-break in the rain. Cool. Off to bed.

Morning fog drifts above a Sierra Nevada lake surrounded by the colors of autumn

This is perhaps an example of a photograph that required me to point my camera the "wrong" direction. I was at a very popular aspen photography destination in the eastern Sierra Nevada, where early color was developing quite nicely even in late September, perhaps a week earlier than usual. There are a couple of standard photographs that almost everyone makes at this location, but since I did those some years ago I'm usually not interested in re-doing them now. (With truly exceptional conditions I would relax that notion a bit and rush right back to the standard place and make photographs!) So when I go back here I now tend to poke around a bit and see what else might be possible there.

So I started this morning by climbing to a location from which I had not photographed before. From that vantage point I saw a few other possible angles on the subject, including some from the far side of the lake. I soon headed over there and as I looked back toward my original location I saw that a low haze was back-lit along the edges of the lake. I'm a complete sucker for both mist and backlight, so I pointed my camera almost straight back into this light and made a few photographs of the grassy area along the lake's shoreline and the trees, both aspens and conifers, rising beyond.

This was my original idea for the 52 Images project. Not quite what I wanted in the end and not really my style but I still like it.

Brama Poznania

What a beautiful day. In all manners really. For a rare treat I had the opportunity to visit the extremely beautiful Brama Poznania this morning...and was rewarded by this magnificent view. If you have not been...I recommend. And the day continues to impress...so cool.

Phill is back from his break with a friend and it was his first morning without Mojo today. He couldn't get over how quiet it was. It still seems very strange not to hear her loud meows echoing around the house.

Second post from almost the same picture. I made this edit after looking at pictures on 500px. Fake is the word that pop to my mind BUT beautiful fake. You know now we have tools to bring our vision to the next level...WHY NOT !

Presenting the 52nd Monorail Monday - Volume 6 shot! This completes six years of posting monorails on Mondays. It's been fun and it's so cool to know that I inspired so many other photographers to do the same thing. I was debating whether to go for year seven since the Flickr Disney community isn't what it once was. But I'll give it a go because, after all, seven is supposedly a lucky number.

As for this shot, I'm real proud of it. It may look like I did a painterly effect in post but if you look closely, there are rocks in the sky. The shot is actually a reflection captured near The Seas pavilion. I inverted the image so that everything was right side up. I liked the result.

Thanks for looking. I appreciate feedback!

So I'm pretty much in love with this photo. And it's basically sooc.

I got my new car today, it's the same thing as my other one was, Jeep Cherokee, but black and has some more interesting features. So, I would just like to say that I'm very lucky to have the Dad that I have and I'm very thankful for everything that he does for me. And now I really, really need to get a job!! Anyway, I was really afraid to drive it, I had to drive it home from the dealer, obviously, and it was the first time I was driving since the accident, and it was so scary and it felt like it took forever, even though it was only like 15-20 minutes. I waited so long to pull out of one street cause I was so afraid to get too close to anyone. This really sucks, I was finally comfortable driving and actually liked it and now I feel like I have to start all over. But baby steps I guess, hopefully it will get better quickly.

No discussion of the magical places of yore, fact or fiction, would be complete without [dramatic pause] Buffet Palace.

And like many legends, now just as inaccessible.

It is important we understand how we relate to our own environment. The wilderness is the canvas on which we sketch ourselves and society often reflects its nature. Therefore, a community more truly reveals what is concealed. For some, the mirror is the door through which the soul frees itself by passing. For others, the pursuit of personal excellence is likened to polishing the mirror of the soul. What is concealed and what is revealed? What is the mask and what the mirror?
