I'm appologizing again for the Koi title. However, this shot rolls over to other critters who've established their base at the Bionic Gardens... and just when I thought I managed a smooth reflection shot of the blank overcast and skyline beyond! Boy, this female mallard has a good kick and is lucky not to be a goose. Denver just concluded the cleanup of over a thousand park geese to feed the poor at only a hundred grand. I'm selling my Thanksgiving meal ticket for cash outside the stadium.

I bet the duck is searching its geeklings but we already sent them to DC. Did she look over behind the reeds? No wonder, looking at this pool, they charge an entry fee for everyone, even Denverites.

I wonder if they have have to feed the water fowl? I don't see any standing corn fields anong the high rise housing. but maybe they feed mostly on visitors' Cheetos? The duck gets better feed than the American poor. After following some of the paths that are scattered about the Denver Botanic Gardens, I found a cool spot with a load of water, a good thing on the Colorado plains. It's clear that the pool furnish a good good for water gardens. They especially like water plantings at the Denver Botanical Gardens. It looks like I am getting closer to botanical, and fish, shots like this. Egad, I have a real load of garden shots to edit with over 200 snaps in the directory, let alone for everything else in my massive stash.

So I followed the original path and in my wanderings, I mostly found loads of prople. This shows a change up from earlier snaps. Always the question is whether this is simply art or is the trickling water making visitors head for the John? Well, at least this is green and I snapped away. Next?

This snap is yet another from a recent eDDie trek, this time down to the Denver Botanic Gardens. I have passed untold times but never invested my time or ponied up the entrance fee. This path shouts that upkeep here is far from free, but eDDie bought a season pass so I did another round of sponge bobbing at the right price. Boy, this place is loaded with distractions that were made for me! ...and, did I get distracted. Art in the park indeed.

Since the Denver Botonic Gardens trek, I have made more treks and another with eDDie to the Rockies. At least I was able to snag a load of shots on that mellow day. I filled my film card for the first time ever. OK, I was tapped by the time it was filled anyway.

NOT a double exposure, it's a reflection..

The Glocknerblick is part of a unique mountain experience in Kals, Austria. We took the ski lift up to the top to get a good look at the panoramic view of peaks more than 3,000 meters in the Glockner group of mountains. There is a small lake where this reflection shot was taken.

With this sky I couldn't resist a reflection shot with a part the Darmstadtium congress center. Although based on stark geometric shapes, the whole building is asymmetric, which explains the asymmetry of the image.

The ocean waves come in and leave these small pools of water. Perfect for practicing reflection shots. Next time I’ll try getting more of the ‘island’ in focus. Anyway, I’ve found that this low-cost 28mm lens has a spectacular price/performance ratio!

loved how this reflection shot captured at Burnham Harbor in Chicago turned out especially with those beautiful wispy clouds and beautiful blue skies...converted it to a sepia monochrome and came out with this image...i also have an old post of this same image in color...have a great weekend everyone...pls. In my mind, if you want great reflection shots then black is the colour to seek out. In this scene passengers wait to board a Grand Central Class 180 set (180103) at platform 3, York station, at around midday on Wednesday 04 June 2025. This train was 1A64, the Sunderland (1017hrs) to London Kings Cross service.

Cathedral Peak catching the last rays of sunlight as seen from Upper Cathedral Lake, Yosemite National Park, California.

Chris Delle and I were patiently waiting at the classic Upper Cathedral photo location for the wind to die, which it refused to do, so we decided to bail early for the long hike back to the car.

Wouldn't you know it, as soon as we got back to the lakeshore the wind died, so we snapped a few quickie reflection shots from here and then headed out. I guess I now have a good excuse to go back! As it turns out though, I think this one is my favorite from our trip.

so me and my wife got to the Riverwalk quite early so we could get a nice spot for the greening of the river...i had a lot of time comping some reflection shots while waiting...on this frame, the surface of this red marble stone was really wet so it made for a perfect reflective surface for this shot...pls.View On Black

An experiment with natural lighting and reflections. Shot with a Lensbaby Double Glass2 lens.

My October 3rd photo for the October Challenge.

I took this shot while visiting Melbourne for a conference for work. On the Saturday of the conference I decided to head out to photograph sunrise as that particular day had the best forecast for some nice light. I shot a typical Melbourne reflection shot and was waiting for the light to hit the CBD buildings. After waiting a while and being worried I would miss the start of the conference I started to walk back to the hotel. I stopped along the way as there was nice light hitting these rowing sheds. As I had 1 more frame in my camera I set up my tripod quickly, framed up, metered the light and took a shot. Literally 2 seconds after I took this shot the sun went behind a cloud. What fortunate timing!

Although we had been taking a "Dream" cruise, our day at Castaway Cay was rather unpleasant due a squall line passing over the island midday, around 1:30pm. While my parents decided to stay in the Cabana we had rented for the day, I decided to run out and take photos between storm cells to try and capture some water reflection shots of the runway and walkways. Although I was really the only one walking about with a camera and tripod out, it was fun none the less. The shot above was taken at the end of the day just before boarding the ship around 3pm. Enjoy!

Thanks for lookin' and have a magical day!

A walk through Liverpool city centre and some street photography on our way to our anniversary meal on 7 January 2025.

Here is the 23rd picture of my 52 project.

Theme of the week was "Trees".

An other one in my confortable streets! I got plenty of idea but I have decided to select this one. An other water reflection shot with an High Key post-treatment. I had fun to work on it.

Come here next Sunday for the picture number 24. Theme of the week will be "Colors".

reflection shot

A bit random shot ;-)

Some time ago I noticed that in my dance shool they have fire stairs, so I took the camera with me to check if there is any chance to use them for some photos.

I was taking some test shots when girl from our group asked what I'm doing. So I shown her camera screen ... and immediately she asked "but why there's no human in the picture?". And wolunteered to be a model for this shot :P

So, the whole photoshoot took like five before the dance class. We took six pictures total, and this is the one I like the most ;-)

BTW, I love all these stripes, I was so happy when I noticed a reflection of the blinds in her sunglasses for a tiny fraction of a second when she was moving her head... I knew that's something that will add a lot, so I navigated her to get the most of this reflection :)

Starships were meant to fly. I don't often get wowed by cityscape/architectural photos but this one blew my mind. Shumon Saito and Kenji Yamamura brought me here while I was in Tokyo, Japan for a short holiday. A reflection shot from the glass panels of Tokyo International Forum and this is another time where I felt the iPhone 6 plus outperform my camera. The iPhone 6 plus could achieve the closest distance between the glass panel and the lens making the reflections "more complete". Totally not achievable with my 14-24mm. :D

Well had a full day out today as it's my birthday tomorrow but the weather looked bad so I had today off instead.

I went looking for kingfishers this morning and hoped to get some gull reflections like the weekend. But the kingfisher arrived after 2 hours briefly and stayed distant. The fog stopped the gull reflection shots from working...

I was then going to head out looking for snakes but the temperature stayed way to low.

I then went to a site for short eared owls and I screwed this shot up and the owl flew off!

I did stumble across some waxwings earlier in the day which was cool.

The I got stuck for 2 hours on the M1 to cover 4 miles on the way home!

I guess I've had a lot of good a days recently though :)

A reflection shot should have been possible here but the wet and warm summer resulted has resulted in a significant amount of overgrowth and a coulple of fallen trees were just in the wrong place to allow a composition including the reflection.

None the less it was good to see the celebrity 91 in sunny conditions.

Location: Flamborough Lighthouse, North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

An early morning shoot at Flamborough Head Lighthouse in North Yorkshire with Corynn Barrett of Angel of Me Photography. This trip was both a success in respect of the shots I got but in some ways a disaster as I accidentally wrecked my Canon 40D. The first shot was taken in the Car park of the lighthouse where we warmed up in the car with a flask of coffee after both me and the camera took a dip in the sea. The time was around 7am about 45 minutes before the sun was due to rise. There was already a bit of light in the sky but it gave the clouds a deep blue tone which was further emphasised with the HDR processing. It had rained for the last 20 minutes or so of the ride to the lighthouse, I must admit I was panicking a little bit as we had no umbrella and we were not prepared for bad weather. Thankfully the weather held our for the entire 2 hour or so shoot and we’d had just enough to form some nice puddles to grab some clear reflection shots. I tried several different compositions of this shot settling on the portrait frame shot at a low angle with my Sigma 10-20mm lens. HDR processing while not essential really brought out the colours and contrast in this shot and the time of day really suited this processing style.

This was my second trip to Flamborough Head, its a great place to shoot on the northern east coast of England, the lighthouse is a draw in itself but as you’ll see from the shots below the chalk cliffs and rocks in the bay below also keep me coming back to this spot. The east coast lends itself well to sunrise shoots and whilst I didn’t managed to get any after the sun came up due to the huge freak wave which ruined my Camera, Corynn did get some good images. The corner of the bay blocks direct line of sight to the sun but from on top of the cliffs you can get a good view .

The first time I walked this part of Terra Nova Rural Park I find this wonderful reflection in a stream. Well, it's more like a ditch but we'll call it a stream...lol! I looked for an abstract reflection shot and found it in the next posted image.

Water was dead calm, so managed a decent reflection shot.

another reflection shot of the Quadracci Pavilion in downtown Milwaukee during our charity photo walk from last weekend...

this is another awesome lake in yosemite national park. the water is clear and if you use a polarizer, you'll get good reflection shots here...

just another long exposure reflection shot of the National Monument and the World War 2 Memorial mirrored on the surface of the Reflecting Pool in DC...the clouds really added a lot of interest here and the reflections look very painterly due to the long exposure...i'm planning to head out by the National Monument this afternoon to capture some zombies during DC's own version of the Zombie Walk...hope the rains stay away until tomorrow...pls. I tried for a similar reflection shot that I got in May...I think the spot I stood in before is underwater and the cattails are so high I can't get a clear shot. So I moved right and got the same little maples. Sweet.

I love it when my friend the Great Blue Heron flies across the pond, giving me a lovely reflection shot!!

Here's another water garden, and one pavilion, reflection shot unhindered by marauding Maisie Duck. There's not a breath of wind though. It's not the Hanging Gardens of Babylon although they were in Nineveh and never in Babylon. The library at Nineveh was also much grander than Alexandria. What other old Mesopotamian stories did the Bible butcher? All of them? Nineveh was largely destroyed by IS and of course, Boy George Bush. Ahh, what's another war or two? It's only paid by the poor in America and dodged by the well-heeled. Atten-shun, heil, click. It takes great religions to spark great wars, sometimes only one religion will do just fine. This is yet another view at the Denver Botanic Gardens I liked. I end up with all the off-shoots.

Planting everywhere at the Denver Bionic Gardens. I bet that duck is still searching its geeklings but we already sent them to DC. Looking at this pool, the reflections are premium. The water gardens here all seemed to be furnished by the Blackwater Group although that Prince bozo is hiding Saudi Arabia now, if only Epstein could join him. He wanted to. Wouldn't that be ducky?

After following some of the paths that are scattered about the Denver Botanic Gardens, I found a cool spot with a load of water, a good thing on the Colorado plains. This is the first time I've been there and seen ice covering the shoreline. It might be hard to tell in the picture, but the ice extends out to the floating log. I still hope to someday make it there when there is both sufficient water in the reservoir for a reflection shot, and a colorful, cloud-filled sunrise sky.

Barker Dam, in Joshua Tree National Park, is one of the few places in the park that has water year-round. Because of this, the soft dirt around the shore is full of fresh hoof and paw prints from the local residents as they wander in for a drink.

Reflection shot taken with the Canon EOS M and the 11-22mm lens at 11mm.

When I started really challenging myself on 365 –or I think, which prompted the self-portraits sets–, I made the commitment to myself of not using more reflection shots for it. In a way reflections are completely inside my comfort zone (doesn't mean I'm any good at them) and I have been trying to do quite the opposite in those projects. Nonetheless, I'm exhausted, this is the only shot I did of myself yesterday and I like how it turned out, so I'm allowing myself this one :)

The one and only thing that persistent, heavy rain is good for! Reflection shots!

The reality that was idealised in the recent reflection shot - more real here. Strangely, though, I would miss much of this clutter and wouldn't like to lose it in a squeaky-clean (but sterile) new version of my hometown...
