On the eve of Remembrance Day, I am posting a photo of my father (centre) with some of his RCAF mates just before they were shipped overseas in WWII
RCAF Buffalo 452 made a visit to Vernon and made several passes before finally leaving the area and heading back to Comox. The Buffalo's incredible 60 year service in Search and Rescue is coming to an end soon as they will be replaced with the new CC-295. I took these photos from my yard on a dreary day, but was glad to see another Buffalo.

You can always determine which era of Lockheed C-130 aircraft are flying by. Our (Canadian) Search and Rescue use older versions which emit a little* exhaust. Makes for a cooler shot for me:)
Thanks for looking, etc.

RCAF 12518 - AVRO Anson V - Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF)
at the Canada Aviation & Space Museum at Ottawa Rockcliffe Airport (YRO)
This Anson V was one of 748 manufactured by MacDonald Brothers Aircraft Limited in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Built in 1945, it was accepted by the RCAF in June of the same year. It served with Air Transport Command from 1948 to 1952 and at the Central Experimental and Proving Establishment from 1952 to 1954. The RCAF stored the aircraft until 1964, when it was selected for preservation and transferred to the Museum.
RCAF 9592 - Piasecki/Vertol H-44A (Flying Banana)
at Greenwood Aviation Military Museum, Greenwood, NS. (YZX)
c/n 60-5446 - built in 1960 (assembled by Vertol Canada facility in Arnprior, ON) - powered by a Curtis-Wright R1820-103 Cyclone, supercharged 9-cylinder radial engine 1425 hp -
retired in 1971
Six H-44A helicopters were acquired by the RCAF. They were based on the H-21B airframe, had metal rotor blades (unlike the wooden ones of the YH-21 and H21A models) and an advanced transmission, and could be distinguished from the H-21 by the converted struts of its landing gear. These were used in support of the Mid-Canada radar line and flown by units such as 103 Rescue Unit, Greenwood, NS, 102 KU (Composite Unit)/424 Squadron and 111 KU/440 Squadron until 1971.
Restored to display condition in 2018 for the Greenwood Military Aviation Museum
(looks a little bit odd without rotor blades)
Here we go! I have been really busy with work lately but I still did time to make some figs! This is a fully painted figure with a white parade belt and bayonet.
Built by Fairchild Aircraft Ltd., Longueuil, Quebec, Canada and delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force on January 25, 1943. Aircraft 10076 served as a trainer until August 1946 when it was declared surplus. It was acquired by the Military Aircraft Restoration Corp. in 1972 and moved to storage at Chino, California. In 2004 it was loaned to the Pima Air & Space Museum for restoration and display. In 2015 it was purchased by the museum.
