For the Grey Cup (finale of the Canadian Football League) in Hamilton the RCAF did a 4 aircraft formation overfly - the aircraft then stayed overnight at YHM at the CWHM and departed back to Bagotville the next day.

Operation SPRING FORWARD is in full swing!

Following six months of planning, Royal Canadian Air Force personnel are hard at work, accomplishing NORAD's mission: exercising their ability to deter, detect and defend against potential threats in the North.

In early April, RCAF aircraft such as the CF-18 Hornet fighter, CC-130T Hercules and CC-150T Polaris air-to-air refueling aircraft are being flown throughout the Arctic territories, Newfoundland and Labrador.

This is the original picture I used to create this picture!

This Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was on a pole and located at the entrance of the old St-Jean military base. What was funny about it is the fact that they have used a mannequin head in the cockpit which makes the scene so realistic....plus it was a foggy morning!

To better understand, have a look at this photo that I just found on the net!

Aluminium from a Royal Canadian Air Force Handley Page Halifax of 426 Transport Training Squadron that had crashed in Belgium in May 1944 was used to build the roof of the memorial, which was designed to evoke the geodetic structure of the Vickers Wellington. The Halifax, LW682 OW/M, had been removed from a swamp in 1997 with three of the crew found still at their posts. They were buried with full military honours in Geraardsbergen and the remains of the aircraft were sent to Canada. Some of the metal was used for the restoration of a Halifax in Trenton, Ontario, and the rest was melted down by the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, Alberta. The Museum provided ingots for the memorial to commemorate the 10,000 of 55,573 Bomber Command aircrew killed during the war that were Canadian.

The Golden Hawks were a Canadian military aerobatic flying team established in 1959 to celebrate the 35th anniversary or the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and the "Golden" 50th anniversary of Canadian flight, which began with the AEA Silver Dart in 1909.

Initially a six-plane team was envisioned as performing for only one year with the Canadair Sabre, but the Golden Hawks were so popular after their single 63-show season that the team was expanded. Another Sabre was added to the team, allowing for a five-aircraft main formation with two solo jets. They continued performing for three more seasons until they were disbanded for financial reasons, on February 7, 1964, having flown a total of 317 shows across North America.

Not only did the team perform the loops, rolls and other maneuvers standard to military formation flying, they had their own trademark maneuvers. One of the Golden Hawks' signature stunts was a low-level flyby of the crowd with their canopies open, waving at the spectators. The Golden Hawks pioneered the bomb burst maneuver and a two-aircraft coordinated solo program which virtually every military team since has adopted in various ways.

c/n 136 - built in 1943, this Norseman VI was flown by No. 3 Wireless School in Montreal during the Second World War, and was used to train wireless operators. Between 1945 and 1950, it served as a communications, search-and-rescue, and transportation aircraft across Canada. In 1950, it served with No. 121 Communications and Rescue Flight, still bearing the RCAF markings from its last year of active service. The aircraft was transferred to the Museum in February 1964.
