This one is a real proper HDR, although I only use 3 bracketed of 4 seconds exposure. Tone Curve in Photoshop CS2 is a bit tricky to use. I try to be more subtle next time. At least, this time it is less noisy. I like what happened on right bottom side. As a CG artist, I see this HDR technique really makes everything looks like computer graphic artworks. Ambient occlussion could be seen more clearly, especially around edges of buildings.

most of the bundles of freshly cut wool we came across under a bridge were nearly bursting, roughly stitched where they had torn already. later that day we found ourselves in a huge flock of sheep, nearly all of them showing pink skin and a somewhat embarrassed expression

It is an exercise to see how focusing is kept on the subject against a very busy background.

I hope you are getting the pun :-) The photographer competes for focus against the clock and the ducks compete for who flies the fastest. Lots of fun so everybody wins!

Raw corn on a blustery afternoon south of Lisbon. I liked the gnarly, tussled look of the corn after a few months of fighting the elements.

John Allen Photography 2024

When things get quiet around here (yes, it does happen on occasion!) Angie is quick to grab one of the loudest, squeakiest toys she owns to liven things up. I really like the way this shot shows her character. It's probably just because I am her person, but that look in her eye seems to say so much.

Every day with Angie is a celebration, but we'll be celebrating the third official Angie Day in a couple of weeks on December 27th.

One thing that can be said about "rescue" animals is that they always rescue a piece of us when we bring them into our hearts and homes. Little Angie holds a big piece of my heart. Isn't love grand? :)

Shailesh thanks for letting me use your camera :)

A photo that I shot in RAW with ProCam on the iPhone 7 (Black) and edited in Adobe Lightroom (non-mobile). Unfortunately, I switched apps (to Obscura) when I proceeded to search for a better composition. This was unfortunate owing to the fact that I had not yet activated RAW capture in Obscura, so all of the better scenes were recorded in decidedly unwieldy JPEGs.

Looking on the bright side, I suppose that this was a good illustration of why RAW capture is such a boon for iPhone photographers. High dynamic range scenes, such as I had here with the dark foreground and the bright parts of the sky at sunset are almost impossible, at least for me, to adjust in post. But this RAW capture handled quite nicely. There's noise in the sky, but the colors aren't weird, despite boosting of vibrance and adjusting the white balance towards magenta.
