An armed soldier patrols the rail bridge linking North Korea with China at Ji'an city, 150 km up the Yalu River from Dandong.

This is another old re-processed shot taken last summer when I was just dipping my toes in flickr. It was uploaded in colour before but it should have gone straight to black and white.

What a horribly constricted "throat" King's Cross has. Aesthetically I'm all in favour, but it must be an operational nightmare. The running lines emerge from twin tunnel bores and must immediately fan out to enter the platforms. Off to the west is a cramped yard for fuelling and minor servicing, to enter which locomotives must have described a three-way movement across all the lines, with their jumble of points and crossovers and their 8mph speed restriction.

Here, probably on Thursday 14th November 1974, an unidentified Brush Type 4 receives attention in what I think must be the fuelling shed, its gloomy interior inadequately illuminated by half a dozen low-wattage domestic light bulbs. A mighty Deltic languishes against the wall, among tanks, trucks, oil drums and pipework. I stayed for half an hour, then it was back to Paddington on the Circle Line for "Western" haulage on the 1315 Cardiff train (1C63) as far as Bristol Parkway.

All equipment sits idle at this railroad center as if it were a museum frozen in time........Oh, it is a museum. I took this photo in 2013 during a visit to the Transportation Museum in St. Louis, MO.

Last of the Minox train series. It is so nice to always have this small camera with me, especially now I'm traveling to the hospital to visit my father 4 times a week. It sort of comforts me to know I can freeze time on film, although I know there are other ways nowadays. But hey, this one works for me.

These traders keep half their stock on the rail lines and have to move them every ninety minutes whenever a train arrives! The costs and benefits of sharing the station!
