I loved the idea of these old shoe moulds (is that the right word?) being reused and made into coat hooks. A nice find at a local antique shop. (Didnt buy them, tho !) For 122 pictures in 2022 #83 "Quirky", this pink octopus sits atop a sporting goods store in Port Aransas, Texas. The store used to be a tourist/souvenir shop, but apparently switched at some point during the pandemic (they had a lot of competition in a small area). A beach town wouldn't be a beach town without some quirky building decorations. And this is across the street from a bar. No pink elephants for this town!

The town where I live is mostly working class; outdoorsy types who are easy going and dare to decorate according to their own unique tastes. That's not to say there isn't money here, with an average age of 50+ the community is well established and happily pay their property taxes and usually early. And the district govt is lenient (within reason) with residents having a little fun with how they decorate their yards.

I have a soft spot for quirky people. There’s something endearing about the awkwardness in us, the parts society tells us to tuck away. Those quirks feel like a window into someone’s truest self—raw, unfiltered, and beautifully human. It’s not beauty, wealth, or intelligence; not even wit or a sense of humour that draws me in as much. It’s the little eccentricities, the things that make them uniquely them. That’s what warms my heart and makes me feel a genuine connection. It’s their quirky that I cherish most.

the sneezing fits i’ve been having recently are too strong… i’m just a girl ;-;
Fulmars superficially resemble gulls, but are readily distinguished by their flight on stiff wings, and their tube noses.
A bird that is both lovely and quirky and also long-lived, living for up to 40 years.
Historically, the northern fulmar lived on the Isle of St Kilda, where it was extensively hunted. The species has now expanded its breeding range southwards to the coasts of England and northern France.
