My colleague wanted a quirky, fun and different wedding cake, and I must say she got it!

The only reason she wanted a teapot on top and teacups on the side of the bottom tier, was that she had seen some teapot and teacup cookies I had made and loved them. Neither she nor her husband drinks tea :-)

Personally I am just soooo happy I pulled off this cake, as it is somewhat larger than the cakes I usually do, and I can't remember the last time I was as nervous as on delivering it.

I would never have come up with this design on my own, and if I'm frank, I don't think it's suitable as a weddingcake, but that doesn't matter as my colleague loved it.

Half is walnut cake with blackberry buttercream and blackberry compote, and the other half is coffee cake with dark chocolate/Bailey's ganache.

Comments will be much appreciated, even advise on how to improve for next time :-) Thanks.

Quirky or unusual is the theme for number 77 of 116, and the bottlebrush tree is unusual in Scotland although not in other parts of the world. This one was spotted in the greenhouse at Dundee Botanic Gardens.

Just like us,only funkier :)

Quirky seems to be my thing...after years of creating it's about time I fessed up that I like to take the untraveled roads creatively.

NHRA Cruise Night, 2009.

I originally had this very elaborate set up, but then the light was weird, and the wind knocked down everything. So I was highly frustrated and never wanted to take pictures again, so I taped sheet music to my bathtub and just sat in there.... It worked much better.

Can't remember where I got this picture from but that paving slab deal going on is all done with paint!

WH: British Eccentricity

Clarification for the Brits: Trader Joe's (TJ's) is a quirky grocery chain here in the States. The adopt different characters and today they seem to have some quirky Brits on hand.

This is for Andrew's younger sister. She's all religious and stuff.

So I thought "Okay she likes jesus....jesus-fish....FISH THAT LOOKS LIKE JESUS! HAHAHA"

I hope she doesn't get offended, because this is just too witty to not like. Shoot, I'd keep it.

GONE--So many projects, so little time. Cheu finally got it together and finished working on a few of these quirky pendant lamps made out of old lampshades we'd collected over time. Come take them home quickly so she'll know she has to make stuff people like, but FAST!

Driving past San Diego Airport I was surprised to see a large Navy ship to my right where there was no apparent water.

I turned off the road towards it and discovered it was a ship on land.

It's the USS Recruit, a 2/3 scale model, commissioned in 1949 as a training vessel. It's the Navy's only commissioned ship never to reach water.

AKA the Neversail.

Jess suggested a "Quirky Turkey Tuesday" idea today, and I jumped right on that bandwagon! (Yes, I know it's Wednesday, and I promise I'll play on the right day next week.)

So here's my Quirky Turkey for the week:

When I am packing for a trip I always MUST make the bed and fold all the laundry before I begin packing. Unmade beds and unfolded laundry don't normally bother me, obvs, but they drive me bonkers when I'm packing. So, it always takes me a crazy long time to pack because I end up doing a bunch of chores first.

Marxim Pub and Pizzeria is a Communist themed underground little quirky place to eat in Budapest. No fancy foods with Communist names, interesting decor, many young locals' favourite hangout on the Buda side of Budapest, close to the Millenaris Park in Kisrokus Street.

Seen on the doorstep to an abandoned building.

I've seen homeless people here, waiting to be moved on, either legally or illegally. Who knows? Also, rubbish buskers. The building is abandoned and waiting to be developed, though a library, not a courthouse.
