"Luxury 4X4" might have some of you thinking Land Rover or Porsche Cayenne. If that's what you're picturing, then all we can say is "Think bigger." Much bigger. Like, so-big-we-can't-get-it-into-the-frame bigger. The Dunkel version of a Luxury 4X4 starts with a Ford F-650 commercial chassis and winds up as the ultimate off-road recreational vehicle.
As their website puts it, Dunkel industries was built on the childhood dream of never having to stop because the trail was 'more than the RV could handle.' So they created a vehicle with "unlimited versatility" that utilizes a Fabco military-grade 4x4 system, capable of driving the luxurious "custom wood, leather and Fiberglass interior" to places no RV dares to go. And in case you want to bring some smaller toys along with you into the wilderness, the bed is big enough to haul a car. That bed also articulates to serve as a ramp to load dirtbikes or ATVs onto the roof. No trailer necessary and no 55-mph limitations for this beast.
Some of the highlights include a firewood box, a shower, and the camp seating built into the running boards and storage bins all around the truck's perimeter. The ATVs on the roof are a definite crowd-pleaser as well. We're not sure how much this project cost the Dunkel Bros. or if they are going to make them available to the public,
Boa noite meninas!

Earth Designs Garden Design and Build were asked to created a landscape and propose garden design in Paddington, London*. Here are the details of the project
Brief: This wide, shallow garden had few features other than a large tree overshadowing the space and was overlooked by a block of flats to the left. The client wanted to create a stylish and unusual family space with a focus on combining British and New Zealand plants.
Solution: In this design we sought to create a quirky yet stylish family space suitable for a variety of uses. The area directly adjoining the house was paved with Indian sandstone in a random lay pattern featuring a large paved circle slightly to the right of the main double patio doors. Metre wide curved paths lead around either side of an oval shaped lawn in the centre of the space. The left hand path leads to a second, smaller, paved circle in the left hand corner of the space, while the right path terminate in a small area of paving directly adjoining the existing shed in the to right corner of the space. All paving and lawn is edged with attractive granite sett bricks.
The paved circle outside the back door features a semi-circular fixed bench approximately 3m long, constructed from rendered blocks and capped with and Indian sandstone seat. The bench is backed by a tall rendered block raised bed, which acts as a backrest to the bench seat. Circular rendered planters planted with a large box ball frame the bench at either end, to give this seating area a sense of seclusion.
Large swirling and scrolling white rendered block walls provide an arresting focal point to the garden. Running down each side of the space, these walls undulate and taper in height, reaching a maximum of 1.8m in parts then dipping to almost ground level while curving around the space. At their highest points, the walls act as a frame to the circular paving to the left, and as a screen to the shed in the right hand corner.
The planting scheme incorporates native English And New Zealand plants in hot and spicy colours.
Finally, a simple lighting scheme gives gentle illumination to the garden. Flush stainless steel ground lights set into the riser of the arced fixed bench provide a wash of gentle light to the paved circle. Low voltage lighting placed throughout the beds highlight individual plant specimens while providing ambient background illumination. To complete the scheme, a series of in-ground walk-over lights installed in the curved pathways guide the user up either side of the space.
Testimonial: "We were delighted by the design which we felt fully answered our brief to provide both an outside play area for our children together with a stylish entertaining space for the grownups to enjoy and relax in.
The design was innovative and striking but still very practical and functional. We have had excellent reactions from all our family and friends.
The Earth Designs team who built the garden worked particularly hard throughout a very bad winter. We are very pleased with their skilled workmanship, especially with regards to their excellent laying of the paving.
It has been a pleasure working with such a reliable and conscientious team and we would like to wish them every success in the future."

Taken at Butlins, Pwllheli during Season '86. Thirty years ago! Chief Redcoat Kennie Jones plays host to the weekly Fancy Dress Competition held in the Regency Bar.
I worked at Butlins for five years and, sad to say, hated every day. Yet here we have a slice of English life and how things used to be, though Butlins had only just been sold to Rank Leisure at the time and this form of entertainment was coming to an end. This was the last year of the Glamorous Granny Competition and others, such as Miss Lovely Legs and Holiday Princess, were being phased out for a more corporate image.

For the WIld Olive Stitch Swap. My partner likes quirky animals. I wonder if they'll like this quirky little bird?
I've been wanting to embroider a bit of this fabric for a long time. The idea was for it to look sketchy & I can't draw (hence the fabric), but, mm, not sure if I like that now.
I was so excited to get stitching I finished super early so I might make another & choose the one I love the most to send.
i'm going to start writing more i have decided. :)

It must be great attending classes age 6, sat next to students age 16. What were those crazy Amish teachers thinking when they devised their education system? Surely they were capable of building school houses, you know, more than one house? Or couldn't they have embraced the modern day concept of - "house" - that building thing with a lounge, dining room, bedrooms (plural), den, kitchen - roomS with an "s" ie more than one working space under a single roof.
And what is it with the horseless carriage? Maybe the teacher has a plan.

Beijos!
