On the front porch at 601 Market St., Laredo, TX, about 1930. The porch swing had not been hung yet. She (my ggmother), was a pretty woman even in old age. She had married three times, to LeValle, then Quick, lastly a McKenzie, who either died or abandoned her. John A. Quick fathered all her surviving children. The story goes that, when she died, her children, embarrassed and confused by her last surname, buried her in an unmarked grave. Catherine Rachel O'Donnell LeValle Quick McKenzie, 1861-1935. Command Sgt. Maj. Gerald Miller (far right), state command sergeant major for the North Dakota National Guard, talks with members of a North Dakota National Guard quick reaction force team in Mandan, N.D., after they completed their mission. The QRF responded to a levee water seepage problem on June 28, 2011. The levee, in Captain's Landing in north Mandan, was repaired at the direction of a Mandan city engineer with a ring dike. These two whitetails didn't wait around to see if I had a rifle or a camera. They had strayed a long way from good cover .
A quick non-scientific comparison between a mirror and refractor lens using cropping to compensate for focal length.
This image is from a Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro lens. It is being compared to an image from a Spiratone 300mm f/5.6 catadioptric lens image. The Sigma image has been cropped to half its height and width to have approximately the same field of view.
Of course, the Sigma is twice as long and many times as heavy as the Spiratone, which is the primary appeal of catadioptric lenses.

Decided to get a quick shot towards the Pavilion, just before going into the School of Management.
Taken for UMFLINT24. (UMFLINT24 is a once-yearly photography project at the University of Michigan-Flint where students and faculty document campus-wide activity in pictures over a 24-hour period.)
This one was never a UFO - rare in my sewing room. I did it for fun, finished it quickly, and donated it to a local charity.

To have him run to me my girlfriend threw away his toy and the puppy started running, his moves are quite fun to see.
I slightly missed the focus there but heh... I like the frozen slow-mo action.
