QUICK MARCH !!!

TALL robust plovers with long yellow legs, usually in pairs or small parties of up to ten birds. Favors a variety of fresh and saline aquatic habitats. Difficult to get close to, and very entertaining in their behavior. Seen at Kotu, Banjul, Gambia.

Great Tit [Parus Major]

A lovely afternoon brought literally hundreds of wee birdies to my feeders at The Pixies.

This Great Tit waited on a branch for a few seconds, before darting down to get a peanut. Sometimes, they will sit and eat sunflower hearts but normally they just swoop in, take a nut, and fly off, then come back and repeat the procedure. Apparently, they stash their food for later.

Hark, now hear the sailors cry,

Smell the sea, and feel the sky,

Let your soul & spirit fly, into the mystic.

I saw a hooded merganser couple in the creek from a distance. They swam away from me, so I continued with other subjects. I noted that the drake was approaching, and took up a position where I could catch a glimpse of him through the foliage. This was the result - one of the closest encounters I've had with a hooded merganser!

It was Friday afternoon and I was on the train listening to Metallica’s new return-to-thrash, Hardwired to Self-Destruct. Craig was due to pick me up at 7am the next morning to make our way to Kosciusko and I decided to do a quick weather check.

In 10hrs there was forecasted to be a 100% high cloud over the NSW South Coast so I posed a crazy suggestion. “Craig – check the forecast for Bermagui tomorrow morning”. A few minutes later and the reply came “should we leave tonight?”.

And that was that. We were on our way for an all-night burn down to the south coast before pushing onto the mountains.

With an hour till sunrise we were on location at Camel rock and the cloud, in the dark of the night, wasn’t looking high. Sunrise came and our fears were right. The forecasted 100% high cloud was 100% low cloud

Thankfully this location works for a moodier sky but I really, really, want to get it with colour.

This Yellow Rumped Myrtle warbler stopped in a branch near me. I always enjoy the bright colors of these birds.

A quick trip up to Shining Tor after leaving work

Spectacular conditions with rainbows and stormy clouds. I had to be quick to get this shot and it was the only image I got before the light faded. Prob some of the best light I have witnessed.

This fringe needs a trim I think.

To test out the bounce flash settings I was using my brother-in-law was kind enough to pause for the quick portrait.

Dexter enjoying the last light of the day (Actually, he's watching what his dad's doing).

As I was driving by this old barnyard, I noticed a few chickens hurriedly making their way across the yard to the shed. Then I spied the problem. A cocky rooster was purposely strutting toward the hens with just one thing on his mind. All I could think of was that the farmer bought a new young rooster and the hens were not pleased. I wish I could have watched what unfolded, but I was stopped in the middle of a country road (yet again). I can hear the ladies now, “We want old Mr. Doodledont back again.”

THE CRITICS HAVE SPOKEN !!

'I was on a beautiful sim only to receive an IM from Twain. I'd heard he was a total asshole. His first words to me were: 'Hi Blondie !' I was disgusted ! Luckily, his agent, Craig Rogalski, www.imdb.com/name/nm8226307/bio/ quickly sent me a personal IM and smoothed things over. We agreed on a one week shoot on my sim. I wouldn't have to interact with Twain at all !

The rest of the movie crew was very professional ! As for the movie itself. It seems to have been well directed. I enjoyed the plot and the homey storyline.

I really must go now. [Arol Lightfoot, sim owner/Flickr photo artist]

'Twain's movie is virtual world. It isn't reality ( contain thought) [sandi / flickr artist]

'I was at the beach with Jax and we decided to drop in and catch Twain's latest movie. It wasn't as dark or mysterious as most of his films. I enjoyed the clouds drifting by. It reminded me of my younger days at the beach. Jax didn't say much about it .. but, then, Jax never says much. [shrugs] [Cat2812 Beachtime Editor/Flickr photo Artist]

'I really don't believe this is an original Twain movie ! Where is the desolation ? Where is the atmosphere ? Where is the dreamy quality ? .. Where is that lonely feeling ? Where is the hidden details ? This is a forgery ! I am going to tell Twain !! [Drєαmsᥫ᭡ / Flickr photo Artist /Dreamer ]

'Hmm? Twain who ? .... [Fabiola Rosenfeld/Flickr Photo Artist]

'I saw Arol's sim buried on a profile and I wanted to have a look. When I got there I was amazed at how beautiful and large it actually is ! So I approached Arol in the most polite way ... I, um , .. well ? Maybe not. She allowed my film crew a week to do the entire shoot. I chose Conrad L. Hall: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conrad_Hall : to be my cinematographer. Conrad has worked on films such as American Beauty and Cool Hand Luke .. he's brilliant !! It is true, this is not one of my standard films that feature a lot of derendering, dark, mysterious, atmospheric, depressing, nor a lack of storyline. As they say in the industry, I wanted to 'break an eye' and I did ! It may not do as well at the box office, .. but it is my film and I'm proud as punch ! Just a few quick shots of my new outfit!

This European Goldfinch female appeared suddenly in front of me when I continued my walk outside Karkarook Park behind some industrial storage sheds. She sat only some 3-4 meters away and I almost panicked, desperately trying to focus with my 500mm lens. She allowed just two quick shots and disappeared.

taken specifically to practise new BWVison Quick mask pro 2022 update haven't learnt it yet! -need hours more practice!!

Waiting for him... Mmmm ;))

He keeps it *coughs* .... ;))))))

So much snow the last few days that I'm starting to tire of it. The dogs , however, are still loving every minute.

An unexpected afternoon off from work resulted in this quick left-over killer.

Another old raw. I was probably annoyed by the low sharpness at the time and didn't do anything to it despite the arrangement with the branch. This was shot with a mirror lens and a Speedbooster. The focus, such as it is, is slighly off and is more on the wing than the eye. That makes sense. It's a fool's errand to try to focus this lens precisely on something as quick moving as a starling's head, so I probably went for the wing. Anyhow, it is what it is, since I don't smoke anymore shooting starlings from my smoking balcony is no longer a thing. If it were to become a thing, though, I now have better EVF stabilization and possibly usable focus peaking to do it with.

Digital photo, collage, painting and processing

This image is from Allan Treman State Park in Upstate New York. I did a trip out there to shoot Watkins Glen and my wife loved the images so much that we went back just a few weeks later. It was that trip where we had some extra time so we went over the neighboring finger lake near Ithaca. I had originally left this image on the chopping block but upon a quick review of some files I saw it and could not figure out why I left it behind. So I pulled it out and brushed off the image to post here. I loved the perspective and the feeling like you are heading to the waterfall just ahead.

Let me know what you think.
