Great Tit [Parus Major]
A lovely afternoon brought literally hundreds of wee birdies to my feeders at The Pixies.
This Great Tit waited on a branch for a few seconds, before darting down to get a peanut. Sometimes, they will sit and eat sunflower hearts but normally they just swoop in, take a nut, and fly off, then come back and repeat the procedure. Apparently, they stash their food for later.

ancient mystery
somewhere deep in the woods
I know you're hiding
what is your sound?
will we ever know?
will always be a mystery
what do you say?
*I took this awhile ago at Dispersion, but think it may be closed now?
I saw a hooded merganser couple in the creek from a distance. They swam away from me, so I continued with other subjects. I noted that the drake was approaching, and took up a position where I could catch a glimpse of him through the foliage. This was the result - one of the closest encounters I've had with a hooded merganser!
Quick shot then moved on to Black Swallowtail. I liked how the sun captured one part of the flower and rest was shaded. The creamy back ground was just a bonus (yes same spot as the cone flower shot) Happy Sunday To All. Be safe out there.
Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus)
They seemed like nervous birds. They would all get up and fly around in circles out over the marsh and land back down near the waters edge at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Galloway, NJ.

To test out the bounce flash settings I was using my brother-in-law was kind enough to pause for the quick portrait.
Captured while indoors at a wedding reception venue.
As I was driving by this old barnyard, I noticed a few chickens hurriedly making their way across the yard to the shed. Then I spied the problem. A cocky rooster was purposely strutting toward the hens with just one thing on his mind. All I could think of was that the farmer bought a new young rooster and the hens were not pleased. I wish I could have watched what unfolded, but I was stopped in the middle of a country road (yet again). I can hear the ladies now, “We want old Mr. Doodledont back again.”
Bustling street, had to be quick :)

So much snow the last few days that I'm starting to tire of it. The dogs , however, are still loving every minute.
Just a few moments before this photo I saw this guy take a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly inflight. I was admiring the butterfly and in just a split second it was gone. Good meal for this Great Crested Flycatcher.
Pretty much says what I did here, with the rain coming down and another car coming along the narrow road, I jumped out camera in had and did a twelve shot pano beside Cummock water Cumbria .
