Quest of the Dragon Slayer

In the heart of the Dragon’s Spine Mountains, a fearsome beast has awakened. The ancient dragon has been dormant for centuries, but a recent seismic disturbance has roused it from its slumber. With its fiery breath and razor-sharp claws, the creature has begun to terrorize the nearby villages, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

A group of unlikely heroes has formed to challenge the dragon and bring peace to the land. Each of them is drawn to this quest for different reasons:

The Knight: Guided by his sense of duty and his desire to protect the innocent, the Knight sees defeating the dragon as an opportunity to leave an indelible mark on history.

The Bard: Moved by the tales of suffering caused by the dragon, the Bard wishes to compose an epic ballad celebrating the victory over this evil creature. He hopes his music will inspire future generations.

The Dwarf: As guardian of the mountains, the Dwarf considers the dragon a threat to his home. He is determined to protect his community and preserve the natural beauty of his kingdom.

The Assassin: Though often solitary, the Assassin feels a strange calling to join this quest. He hopes that defeating the dragon will allow him to find new meaning in his life and redemption for his past actions.

The Mage: Fascinated by legendary creatures, the Mage sees the dragon as a unique opportunity to study ancient magic and deepen his knowledge. He also hopes to use his powers to protect the innocent.

Together, these adventurers must navigate treacherous dungeons, outsmart cunning traps, and face off against hordes of monstrous creatures. Their ultimate goal is to reach the dragon’s lair and defeat the dragon once and for all.

This quest is full of promise and adventure. Each of the heroes hopes to find what they seek: glory, redemption, knowledge, or simply the satisfaction of having accomplished a great feat.

20 year old Metro 'Quest' edition. Originally I think this would have had Quest decals on the lower rear 3/4 panel, but obviously those are long gone. Done well to retain original wheel trims though.

THQ Nordic has pushed out a special Titan Quest Anniversary Edition and it’s completely free if you own the original version of the game on Steam.

I'd like a picture of a Surfliner with the sun setting behind it. It's a small ask, well actually no, it isn't any such thing.

This scene was captured at about 1650/4.50pm on 29 January 2019, the location is the crossing of the San Luis Rey River at Oceanside Harbour.

And the sun is behind me.

Eh?

Well yesterday was as much as anything else based on finding out exactly when and where the sun sinks. And trying to find a location where there is a good chance of there being something to photograph in that window of seven minutes or so before the big red globe disappears below the horizon.

This was not that location.

After taking this shot, I walked round to the Pacific Coast Highway bridge which you can just make out behind the train. Nothing stirred in well over an hour, in part due to something obstructing the line further north.

We'll try again later today...

Train 785 from San Diego to Los Angeles, pushed by P42 #144.

And to our pals up north in the Dakota's, Illinois, Wisconsin and wherever else is being vortexed right now, keep well boys and girls. That once in a lifetime shot isn't worth shit if you sacrifice an arm, two knackers and three legs to frostbite...

Grays Lily (or Roan Lily) - Lilium grayi

Our small party found three of these in the Roan Mountain area, two along trails and one along a roadside. This one was very convenient for photography and could be photographed easily without stepping off a trail. I used, mostly, a long telephoto lens to make sure I did not get too close to this sensitive plant. Several blossoms appeared to have been damaged by nectar thieves, with holes at the base. I saw ants visiting these perforations, but I suspect a larger insect made them. Location on Flickr is approximate. Elevation was about 5600 feet (1,700 meters). This was very close to the North Carolina/Tennessee state line.

After their time is over as a bus, many vehicles end up in a variety of uses. Former Metroline London TE1079 (LK60AFA) is now a promotional vehicle for Samsung and I caught it in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street.
