I added foam wedges on the Quest's hull flange so that the spraydeck is pushed upwards as much as possible when it's stowed.
Until now, I had two choices: push it as far forwards into the nose as possible to hold it solidly, but then my toes rubbed on it and my knees fouled the Velcro tabs while pedalling; or I could pull it as far back as possible to clear my toes without the thing falling off the flange, and while still held in place by the Velcro tabs. It was never quite right, and I've already worn scuff marks on the thing from 900 miles of my toes rubbing half the time. With the wedges in place, all the rubbing has stopped.
I cut them from four 2"x6" triangles of neoprene foam (originally the unused first seat cover from my HPVelo Speedmachine), hot glued together in pairs. They're held in place with Velcro in case I needed to fine tune the position, but I measured and tested, and got it spot on at my first attempt.

Siamo sulla riviera del Conero in provincia di Ancona, una incantevole spiaggia a forma di mezzaluna, incastonata fra una grotta e un'alta rupe protetta da una barriera semicircolare di scogli. L'odore pungente dei pini, l'arenile vasto e attrezzato con stabilimeti balneari, le acque pulite, fanno di questa baia un angolo unico, premiato più volte dalla Bandiera Blu.
Unico neo ghiaia fine e pungente , sassi lisci e maledettamente dolorosi, se si cammina a piedi nudi.
Ci si arriva a piedi, in auto o con bus navetta; una strada di 1 km scende in spiaggia dal centro di Sirolo.

Another team of Siberians on the trail. This year there were several teams of Siberians, which is a bit unusual, while they're very sturdy, they basically run till they're tired and then they sleep and nothing the musher can do will get them going,
While the Alaskan Huskies will do anything the musher asks. So, the Alaskan Huskies are usually much more popular, but nowhere near as photogenic.

I'd like a picture of a Surfliner with the sun setting behind it. It's a small ask, well actually no, it isn't any such thing.
This scene was captured at about 1650/4.50pm on 29 January 2019, the location is the crossing of the San Luis Rey River at Oceanside Harbour.
And the sun is behind me.
Eh?
Well yesterday was as much as anything else based on finding out exactly when and where the sun sinks. And trying to find a location where there is a good chance of there being something to photograph in that window of seven minutes or so before the big red globe disappears below the horizon.
This was not that location.
After taking this shot, I walked round to the Pacific Coast Highway bridge which you can just make out behind the train. Nothing stirred in well over an hour, in part due to something obstructing the line further north.

Grays Lily (or Roan Lily) - Lilium grayi
Our small party found three of these in the Roan Mountain area, two along trails and one along a roadside. This one was very convenient for photography and could be photographed easily without stepping off a trail. I used, mostly, a long telephoto lens to make sure I did not get too close to this sensitive plant. Several blossoms appeared to have been damaged by nectar thieves, with holes at the base. I saw ants visiting these perforations, but I suspect a larger insect made them. Location on Flickr is approximate. Elevation was about 5600 feet (1,700 meters). This was very close to the North Carolina/Tennessee state line.

La pietra leccese (in dialetto salentino leccisu) è una roccia calcarea appartenente al gruppo delle calcareniti marnose e risalente al periodo miocenico. È una formazione rocciosa tipica della regione salentina, nota soprattutto per la sua plasmabilità e facilità di lavorazione.
Questa roccia ha una composizione piuttosto omogenea: l'esame petrografico rivela che è costituita principalmente da carbonato di calcio (CaCO3) sotto forma di granuli di calcare (microfossili e frammenti di fossili di fauna marina, risalenti a circa sei milioni di anni fa) e di cemento calcitico, a cui si legano glauconite, quarzo, vari feldspati e fosfati, oltre a sostanze argillose finemente disperse (caolinite, smectite e clorite), che, nelle diverse miscele, danno origine a differenti qualità della roccia.
La pietra leccese affiora naturalmente dal terreno e si ricava dal sottosuolo in enormi cave a cielo aperto, profonde fino a cinquanta metri e diffuse su tutto il territorio salentino, in particolare nei comuni di Lecce, Corigliano d'Otranto, Melpignano, Cursi e Maglie. Il leccisu viene ricavato in forma di parallelepipedi di varia dimensione; l'estrazione è semplice poiché si lascia incidere con la stessa facilità del legno. Durezza e resistenza della pietra, una volta estratta, crescono con il passare del tempo, e nella consolidazione la pietra assume una tonalità di colore ambrato simile a quella del miele.
Di colore dal bianco al giallo paglierino, la roccia si presenta compatta e di grana fine, a differenza del carparo, altra formazione affine rinvenibile nella stessa zona. Utilizzata sia in campo architettonico che scultoreo, la pietra leccese deve la sua particolare malleabilità alla presenza di argilla, che permette un modellamento al tornio e persino manuale. Apprezzata in campo artistico, ha raggiunto stima internazionale grazie all'artigianato locale che nel corso dei secoli ha prodotto la complessa architettura del Barocco leccese. Esempi significativi sono i fregi, i capitelli, i pinnacoli e i rosoni che decorano molti dei palazzi e delle chiese di Lecce, come ad esempio il palazzo dei Celestini e l'adiacente Chiesa di Santa Croce, la Chiesa di Santa Chiara e il Duomo.
La natura stessa della pietra la rende molto sensibile all'azione meccanica degli agenti atmosferici, all'umidità di risalita del terreno, alla stagnazione di acqua e allo smog. Per rendere il leccisu più resistente alle intemperie, i maestri scultori dell'epoca barocca usavano trattare la roccia con del latte. Il blocco di pietra leccese veniva spugnato o immerso interamente nel liquido; il lattosio, penetrando all'interno delle porosità, creava uno strato impermeabile che preservava la pietra fino a portarla, quasi inalterata, ai giorni nostri.
Nota sin dall'antichità, nella Terra d'Otranto si ritrovano dolmen, menhir, statue e costruzioni romane fabbricati in leccisu. I primi studi geologici risalgono alla seconda metà del XVI secolo, ma si deve a Gian Battista Brocchi, nel suo studio sulla configurazione geologica salentina (1818), l'identificazione, la prima datazione (fra Secondario e Terziario) e l'origine del nome della pietra leccese. Al suo interno, cavatori e paleontologi hanno rinvenuto fossili rilevanti di cefalopodi, delfini, capodogli, denti di squali, pesci, tartarughe e coccodrilli. Attualmente, l'artigianato della pietra leccese produce souvenir e opere d'arte
