Materials and tools: Vegetable tanned leather, Water based leather dye(Light brown, Dark brown), Pyrography tool(Wood burning pen)
This gourd won second place in the Gourd Artist's Guild 4th annual World Wide Web Gourd Show in 2005, in the woodburning category. :)
I sketched the main elements of this design onto the gourd freehand and then using my burning tool, stippled everything you see. There are no complete lines on this piece. The entire design is comprised of tiny burnt dots. The entire piece took over 1300 hours to complete.
The pictures here on flickr show this gourd completed before I applied the varnish.
Two wooden postcards from 1900-1905. No space was left on these postcards for a message but they were never mailed anyways. These were probably purchased with just a light imprint of the image and the buyer was supposed to finish the artwork. The image was finished with pyrography to burn the outline of the image and add the background and then it was hand painted. Looks like a nice job to me. These were nailed to the wall for decoration. Made from three layers of wood to prevent warping. Looks like poplar (whitewood). These are the first wooden postcards I have ever seen.
A beautiful Mehndi style flower, or henna, is always beautiful to wood burn. It's neat, kinda like giving a piece of wood a tattoo.

The most amusing thing about this sign is that I made it with pyrography. Fitting to burn a sign warning against burning, eh? We've hung this over our welding equipment, which does have the potential to set us on fire, so it's a useful reminder to pay attention to the torch.
It's my understanding that this is a SevenCubed design. I just mooched it for our shop. Thanks, SevenCubed!
You can't live near Suttle Lake in the Cascades and not know about Sasquatch!
While making this monster 4 ¼ inch shuttle, Dave was inspired by the legends of Big Foot roaming the wilderness areas of the Pacific Northwest, so he named it the “Sasquatch”.
This shuttle is similar in size to the popular large plastic Tatsy shuttle, but it is made out of Oregon Myrtlewood. Dave has burn etched our Cascade Mountains logo on one side and a “Big Foot” print on the other.
Doretta Darkness
Doretta, her friends Cat and Pumpkin have been created with love and care.
Doretta is a true dark girl with mystery and beauty that stops people in their tracks. Her friends Cat and Pumpkin stay by her side and they all love to play cheeky tricks on people and scare them on Hallows eve!
Doretta herself is a ragdoll with a difference. She is wired, so her arms, legs and neck are pose-able to a degree (great for photo opportunities). She also has real eyelashes and glossy eyes set off with her sparkly lips.
Her clothes are mostly not removable, though you can take off her rhinestone encrusted cape. Her boots are hand made black faux leather with ribbon laces. She is also wearing a lovely sparkly rhinestone crescent moon necklace and a twinkly rhinestone bracelet on her right wrist on top of her gorgeous long satin lace top gloves. Under her skirt she has a pair of lace stockings topped with ribbon, she also has a black netted underskirt.
Her hair has been sewn on piece by piece and then each strand has been separated one at a time to give her that gorgeous wavy look and feels lovely and soft to the touch. This is toped off with a charming little top hat encrusted with rhinestones with a cheeky silver spider perched on top.
Doretta has a gift for her new owner when she arrives, a lovely hand made bracelet hand painted with a spidery theme.
Cat, Pumpkin and the spidery bracelet for you; have all been crafted by hand with clay, then also painted by hand. ALL sewing and fixing of rhinestones has been done by hand, taking many many hours.
Doretta and all the accessories come in a special wooden box that has had many hours of pyrography cast upon it to personalise it specifically to Doretta. It also has a date and number mark. Inside the box Doretta and her accessories are secured in place between two luxury pillows and fastened in place carefully with ribbon.
Doretta is approximately 27cm/10.5inches tall from her feet to the top of her hair.

Pollination Wunder Station (2011) an amplified habitat installation for wild, solitary nesting bees and wasps
By Sarah Peebles. Assisted by Rob Cruickshank, electronics; John Kuisma, woodworking; Chris Bennett, pyrography.
Video:http://vimeo.com/39484206
Current Location: Lake St. George Field Centre, TRCA in Richmond Hill (for use in school programmes; not open to the public).
Commissioned for Items May Shift, at The Tree Museum in Gravenhurst, Ontario (Summer, 2011 only; more below). This booth is now used by the Toronto Region Conservation Authority in field education permanently at its Lake St. George Field Centre. Unfortunately it is not open to the public. But you're in luck - other Audio Bee Booths and Cabinets in this series are open to the public, listed at Resonating Bodies <a href="http://resonatingbodies.wordpress.com/"
Pollination Wunder Station (2011) is an amplified habitat installation for wild, solitary nesting bees and wasps. Commissioned for the The Tree Museum's 2011 exhibition, "Items May Shift", near Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada. This is the first of a series of similar installations I'm creating for botanical gardens, parks, galleries, zoos and other green spaces in the coming years.
Viewing best May - September.
Aesthetically compelling, immersive and informative, "Pollination Wunder Station" intersects habitat interpretation, BioArt, sound installation and sculpture. It allows the public to safely view and listen to solitary-dwelling, (mostly) native bees and wasps - pollinators which are quite different than European honey bees.
