A pyrographed gourd

Reminds me of the colours and designs I've seen in the past of the classic aussie burnt wood art of native gums and blossoms…

This small tree grows on the edge of the billabong track a little way past those red pea wild flowers.

Couldn't get a crisp focus due to constant swaying in the wind, so settled for the 'soft look', as I liked them so much and wanted to post a shot of them.

And due to it's now Spring and therefore snake breeding season, I won't be returning here any time soon !

#3 All painted and pretty. Pyrographed, acrylic paints and watercolour pencils (first time using them, LOVE them!) and decopage flowers and heart. I'm so happy getting back to painting! 45cm x 29.5cm plywood. Hmmm must take it outside and get a better photo to get rid of the shadow.

This 19" long pyrography, also called poker work or wood burning, decorated oar has an applied photograph of a photographer on a frozen shore line. I photographed it for a lecture we are giving on 19th century photography. It is marked "Ocean Park" but no state is mentioned. The frozen ocean rules out several of the many possibilities. I think it is from Ocean Park, Maine where a Chautauqua community was founded in 1881. It has the feel of an amateur project to me.
